Role Overview As an Aircraft Structural Engineer you will supervise staff in aircraft and workshop environments, ensuring all structural repairs, modifications and rectifications comply with approved documentation and safety standards. The role plays a key part in maintaining quality standards and certifications in line with company authorisations, and is critical to upholding the highest standards of safety and quality in aircraft maintenance. Key Responsibilities Oversee repair, rectification and modification work in accordance with approved documentation, ensuring compliance with the latest technical publications Ensure availability of resources and manpower to meet business needs and project milestones Monitor activities and personnel for adherence to safety regulations and company procedures, addressing any deficiencies proactively Maintain effective communication with management and team members to identify and address operational disruptions Complete detailed reports on incidents and accidents, analysing the elements leading to events Conduct performance reviews for the team, implement action plans for deficiencies, and mentor junior staff and trainees Attend training modules to enhance relevant skills and contribute to the business Ensure accurate recording of structural inspections, defects and repairs to maintain aircraft records Licences & Qualifications Degree or diploma in Aeronautical Engineering or an equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Avionics, Electronics or Technical Engineering, or a basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence, or passes in the relevant CAR 66 modules Full company authorisations for sheet metal and composite repairs relevant to the Air India fleet Completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent formal training Training on manufacturer's documents and procedures Experience Minimum of 5 years in aircraft maintenance engineering, plus shop maintenance and task training At least 2 years as certifying staff in relevant areas (aircraft or shop) as structures certifying or support staff, reduced to one year for CAR 66 licence holders Alternatively, CAR 66 modules 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11A with 2 years of actual maintenance in a workshop environment DGCA Form 1 certification experience in structures or cabin shops Minimum of seven years of aircraft engineering experience, including two years as an authorisation holder in the structural repair category Leadership experience with mechanics and technicians Knowledge and skills Expertise in sheet metal and composite repairs on aircraft and aircraft components in an airline or MRO environment Strong understanding of airline workshop procedures and international standards of aircraft operation and maintenance Familiarity with air legislation and legal matters relating to aircraft safety Preferred additional qualifications Knowledge of CNC programming and manual machining operations such as lathe, milling and drilling Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA V5) and the ability to produce CAD drawings Experience in electroplating methods such as anodising and cadmium plating
