Role Overview To assist the Technical Services Manager - Powerplant and thereby ensure DHL has comprehensive aircraft powerplant continued airworthiness support. Technical Services provides engineering assistance to aircraft production in the form of troubleshooting systems defects and liaison with the aircraft and engine manufacturers, and assesses technical documentation received from airworthiness authorities, manufacturers or vendors. Key Responsibilities Support the Powerplant department with material management: forecasting projected future consumption, sourcing, pre-purchase approval review, post-purchase technical review of paperwork, back-to-birth (BTB) trace review for life limited parts, managing material from source to final destination and through the shop process, and ensuring the material and its technical information are accurately reflected in the company management system (TRAX). Accurately and effectively manage large volumes of material movement and keep TRAX updated in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with materials receiving inspection procedures. Evaluate new company aircraft for airworthiness compliance to determine which powerplant / APU modifications may be required. Research powerplant / APU data in support of Service Bulletin assessment. Assess engineering requirements to enable efficient overhaul or repair of powerplant / APU related components, including requisitions and quotations. Manage the full engine shop visit process, from removal planning and work scope creation through to invoice review and release paperwork review. Visit off-wing maintenance providers to carry out shop visit table-top inspections. Forecast future projected material consumption and source needed materials; review multiple vendor options and pre-approve purchases. Review life limited part (LLP) back-to-birth trace pre-purchase and approve the purchase, and manage the LLP BTB folders for each engine and APU for accuracy and currency. Carry out soft life management for LRUs and non-LLP components. Manage material movements for engines and APUs going to the shop and through the shop process. Support line maintenance on troubleshooting and technical support issues by liaising with OEMs and aircraft, powerplant and APU manufacturers. Provide technical and advisory support to the Maintenance, Quality, Stores and Flight Operations departments. Take full responsibility for the Engine/APU Health Monitoring Program (EHM), compile engine and APU trend reports and recommend specific maintenance actions. Monitor on-wing life of engines and APUs via EHM, LLP life limitations and AD limitations. Evaluate potential engines and APUs for procurement, and monitor preservation and storage requirements for spare engines and APUs. Assess and analyse manufacturers' Alert Service Bulletins, Service Bulletins, Service Letters and Fleet Team Digest notifications, making recommendations to enhance powerplant / APU reliability. Assess powerplant / APU systems related future requirements mandated by airworthiness authorities. Assess and analyse Airworthiness Directives issued by the FAA or other related airworthiness authorities. Liaise with vendors and civil aviation authorities, and handle any reasonable request from DHL management. Licences & Qualifications A graduate or Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (EASA / FAA / ICAO Type II). Experience Minimum three years' experience in Technical Services powerplant engineering. GE CF6-80C2 CAMO technical experience is a distinct advantage. Experience with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel. Experience with My Boeing Fleet, General Electric systems and the GE AirVault application is an advantage. Experience with TRAX or AMOS maintenance systems, or similar maintenance software, is an advantage. Experience using Engine Health Monitoring software, particularly General Electric, is an advantage. Experience interpolating flight data via a Flight Data Monitoring System is an advantage. Experience reviewing and assembling engine LLP / APU back-to-birth trace packages. Requirements
