About the Company Sun Country Airlines is a hybrid low-cost carrier with more than 40 years of Minnesota roots. It operates scheduled flights to destinations across the U.S., Canada, Central America and the Caribbean, as well as charter and cargo operations worldwide. Role Overview Technical Instructors conduct training events for both Sun Country employees and its maintenance vendors. Training can include aircraft-specific training and non-technical training. Instructors work with Maintenance, Quality Control, Engineering, Technical Services, Maintenance Programs and Reliability, Maintenance Planning, Maintenance Control, external maintenance vendors, the FAA and the Airworthiness Review Board to define, develop and improve the training curriculum. Key Responsibilities Provide efficient and effective training using the latest training aids, tools and methods, ensuring all activities comply strictly with the General Maintenance Manual Conduct comprehensive initial, recurrent and on-the-job training Maintain special authorisation training such as engine run (live aircraft or simulator), engine run and taxi (live aircraft or simulator), airworthiness release, ETOPS, LLM return to service, RI/RII/INSP and towing Conduct aircraft systems training, both general familiarisation and system specific Review the training programme to ensure content and delivery meet both FAA and company standards Assist in planning, organising and developing training initiatives Attend training events conducted by outside vendors Travel and conduct training events for external maintenance providers Keep accurate training records for attendees of internal and external training events Mentor new maintenance technicians and others who need focused refreshers Conduct all tasks safely and in compliance with local, state and federal safety and health regulatory requirements and internal policies Other duties as assigned by management Experience Two years of experience training peers or providing technical oversight in aircraft concepts, systems operation, and maintenance troubleshooting and resolution using standard industry maintenance manuals Preferred: B737NG experience Preferred: previous maintenance instructor experience Licences & Qualifications Preferred: Airframe and Powerplant licence Preferred: B737NG General Familiarisation Requirements Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision under stressful situations Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Must be available to work varied hours to support maintenance schedule requirements What We Offer Base compensation of $38.23 per hour plus shift differentials and a licence premium if applicable Comprehensive benefit package including dental and vision PPO and high-deductible health plans Health savings account and flexible spending account Free standby and discounted travel privileges from day one for employees, family and friends 401(k) match Paid time off and paid holidays Life and AD&D insurance Employee Assistance Program including counselling for employees and their family Fitness incentive and stop-smoking support Additional Information Classification: full-time, non-exempt. Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota. No supervisory responsibility. This position is represented by the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association and the compensation schedule is based on the collective bargaining agreement. Work environment: a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. Physical demands: work is performed standing, sitting and walking, and requires effective communication using speech, vision and hearing; simple grasping and fine manipulation; bending, squatting, crawling, climbing and reaching; and lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling medium weights up to 75 pounds. Involves working around moving machinery and exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity and to dust, fumes and gases. Requirements
