Role Overview The Supervisor, Maintenance is responsible for planning, organising, directing, coordinating and controlling maintenance operations for line and overnight maintenance on all aircraft, working through Crew Chiefs and Mechanics. An FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) licence is required for this position. Key Responsibilities Plan, organise, direct, coordinate and control line and overnight maintenance operations on all aircraft through Crew Chiefs and Mechanics Ensure qualified personnel are available and assigned to best achieve the desired end product, taking account of airworthiness, aircraft availability and economics Ensure activities are accomplished in accordance with company policies, the FARs, company and maintenance programmes and other governmental regulations Assist in formulating departmental procedures, ensure all tools and equipment are maintained safely, and provide timely and accurate information on aircraft status Confirm the proper transfer of remaining work to the following shift, or take control from the preceding shift Provide support to Crew Chiefs and Mechanics as needed Licences & Qualifications Licence: FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) licence High school diploma, GED or international equivalent Preferred: college degree or an equivalent amount of work experience Experience Minimum of two years in aircraft maintenance Minimum of one year of experience in a supervisory capacity Preferred: avionics experience Preferred: experience creating and maintaining departmental budgets Preferred: working knowledge of labour contracts Requirements Strong leadership, interpersonal and organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot effectively Able to work in a team environment and prioritise work and projects to meet competing deadlines Ability to show initiative and critical thinking skills Able to work with minimal supervision, report to work regularly and on time, and be self-motivated Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Working knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Willing and able to work a variety of rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, holidays and rotating days off Legal right to work in the United States Able to read, write, fluently speak and understand English What We Offer Employee flight privileges within the American Airlines global network Training and development programmes Comprehensive health and life benefits (subject to location) Additional Information The description provides a brief overview of the position and is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, expectations and skills; duties and expectations may change at any time.
