Role Overview The Specialist, Maintenance Operations Control coordinates and tracks all maintenance performed on aircraft during revenue service and supervises Class IV on-call maintenance. An FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) licence is required for this position. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and track all maintenance performed on aircraft during revenue service; supervise Class IV on-call maintenance Provide technical assistance where required; track maintenance-related delays and cancellations and report maintenance irregularities to management staff Provide the essential communication link between flight crews, System Operations Control (SOC) and Maintenance regarding aircraft discrepancies Interpret, issue, close and help control the use of the Minimum Equipment List (MEL), Configuration Deviation List (CDL) and Time Delayed Maintenance Items (TDMIs) Monitor compliance with procedures before the dispatch of an aircraft and receive assignments from management Work according to FAA and company regulations and comply with the procedures in all applicable manuals Contribute to FAA-required reports including MRR and MISR; debrief flight crews and maintenance on in-flight and post-flight discrepancies Coordinate findings with the appropriate personnel to resolve maintenance problems Coordinate parts movement and the manpower required for field trips to facilitate the timely repair of out-of-service aircraft Travel to aircraft or stations to provide on-site assistance and guidance in detecting faults and recommending the repair action needed to return the aircraft to service when necessary Communicate with other company personnel as required, in the manner designated by the company Licences & Qualifications Licence: FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) licence required High school diploma or GED equivalent Valid, unexpired and unsuspended state driver's licence; some licence restrictions may prohibit a candidate from being considered Experience Minimum of three years in aircraft maintenance; working experience on company fleet types preferred PC skills necessary The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and the General Procedures Manual (GPM) Requirements Minimum age 18 Able to work in a team environment and prioritise work and projects to meet competing deadlines Ability to show initiative and critical thinking skills Able to work with minimal supervision, report to work regularly and on time, and be self-motivated Willing and able to work rotating shifts including nights, holidays, weekends and days off, and flexible to work additional hours with short notice when operationally necessary Legal right to work in the United States Able to read, write, fluently speak and understand English What We Offer Employee flight privileges within the American Airlines global network Training and development programmes Comprehensive health and life benefits (subject to location) Additional Information The description provides a brief overview of the position and is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, expectations and skills; duties and expectations may change at any time. Requirements
