Job Description

About the Company Airbus Helicopters produces UH-72A Lakota helicopters for the U.S. Army and H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers at Columbus, Mississippi, on the eastern border of the state. The site hosts the helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and the Centre of Excellence for the entire North America region. The team focuses on quality, productivity and efficiency, ensuring the highest quality of care and safety is built into every aircraft assembled and maintained. Role Overview Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Senior Aircraft Electrical Technician to join its H145 Final Assembly Line team in Columbus, Mississippi. You will work as an electrical installer in the build-up, fabrication, repair and replacement of aircraft electrical and electronic components and systems in the manufacture, maintenance or refurbishing of aircraft, and carry out function checks to verify the proper functioning of components and systems. Airbus is an authorised DoD SkillBridge partner (per DoDI 1322.29). This 180-day programme allows transitioning service members to apply their military technical expertise in a high-precision aerospace environment. Key Responsibilities Apply the basic techniques and procedures of electrical installation. Read and follow detailed plans, diagrams and different standards in the fabrication of wire harnesses and electrical components. Lay in and route wires in the aircraft, tying, lacing and applying appropriate anti-chafe protection. Install solder shields, splices, daisy chains and electronic components such as resistors, capacitors and diodes. Licences & Qualifications A current A&P licence is a plus but not required. Experience Minimum six years of aviation electrical experience. Target military backgrounds: aircraft electrical and environmental systems (power generation, distribution and environmental control); aviation electrician's mate (electrical power systems, lighting and flight controls); aviation electronics technician (radar, communications and integrated avionics, highly relevant for wire-harness troubleshooting); aircraft electrician on rotary-wing (Apache, Black Hawk) and fixed-wing platforms (formerly 68F); aircraft electrical systems technician (e.g. 6332, 6336, 6337, specialised by airframe such as Osprey, Harrier, F-35); avionics electrical technician (power, navigation and flight control systems on rescue and patrol aircraft). Relevant codes: Air Force 2A6X6, Army 15F, Navy AT and AE, Marine Corps 63XX, Coast Guard AET and AMT. Example platform experience: HH-60 Pave Hawk, CV-22 Osprey, MH-60R/S Seahawk, CMV-22B, AH-64 Apache, UH-60 Black Hawk, CH-47 Chinook, CH-53 Super Stallion, AH-1Z Viper, UH-1Y Venom, MV-22 Osprey, MH-65 Dolphin, MH-60T Jayhawk. Requirements SkillBridge eligibility: active-duty service member within 180 days of separation; written commander (O-4 or above) authorisation; current work authorisation for U.S. positions. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Citizenship: US Person under the ITAR definition (U.S. citizen, green card holder or person covered under the existing ITAR licence). Work location: 98% on site. Physical requirements: vision to read screens, documents, engineering drawings and wire numbers; hearing for conversations and production floor alarms; speaking in conversations and meetings; operation of office equipment and production tools such as hydraulic lifts; carrying and lifting up to 60 lb (27 kg); pushing and pulling equipment and tools; sitting for long periods; bending, stooping, squatting and moving freely in areas with moving aircraft and parts and where exposure to chemicals and fumes occurs; standing for discussions in offices or on the production floor; walking through office and production areas including uneven surfaces; independent travel at short notice several times a year. Personal protective equipment: includes but is not limited to safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks and protective gloves as required by the site or customer site. For administrative work, steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, with appropriate hearing and eye protection as needed.
