About the Company Airbus Helicopters produces UH-72A Lakota helicopters for the U.S. Army and H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers at Columbus, Mississippi, on the eastern border of the state. The site hosts the helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and the Centre of Excellence for the entire North America region. Role Overview Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Senior Aircraft Avionics Technician to join its New Helicopter Completions team in Columbus, Mississippi. You will perform assembly, installation, repair or replacement of aircraft electrical and electronic components and systems in the manufacture, maintenance or refurbishing of aircraft, and function checks of components. Airbus is an authorised DoD SkillBridge partner (per DoDI 1322.29). This 180-day programme allows transitioning service members to apply their military technical expertise in a high-precision aerospace environment. Key Responsibilities Maintain a close working relationship with the assigned lead person regarding schedules, priorities, availability of parts, supplies and tools, and special instructions as required. Perform work from blueprints, sketches, vendor and service manuals and other source data to obtain dimensions, locations, alignment, tolerances and other specification requirements. Use a variety of standard and specialised hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices and test equipment to complete work assignments. Ensure completed work complies with FAA regulations, customer requirements and company specifications. Licences & Qualifications A current A&P licence is a plus. Experience Minimum of six years of experience working on aircraft avionics, preferably rotorcraft. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and diagrams and apply standard shop practices in the fabrication and repair modification of aircraft structures. Target military backgrounds: avionics electrical technician, aviation maintenance technician, fighter/bomber/refueler integrated avionics, test station or electronic warfare, avionic mechanic, aircraft electrician, AH-64 armament/electrical/avionics, aviation electronics or electrician's mate, collateral duty inspector (CDI). Relevant codes: Air Force 2A3X4, 2A3X5, 2A9XX; Army 15N, 15F, 15Y; Navy and Marine Corps AT, AE, 64XX; Coast Guard AET and AMT. Requirements SkillBridge eligibility: active-duty service member within 180 days of separation; written commander (O-4 or above) authorisation; current work authorisation for U.S. positions. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Work location: on site 98%. Physical requirements: vision to read screens, documents, engineering drawings and wire numbers; hearing for conversations and production floor alarms; speaking in conversations and meetings; operation of office equipment and production tools such as hydraulic lifts; carrying and lifting up to 60 lb; pushing and pulling equipment and tools; sitting for long periods at the aircraft, at backshop equipment, in meetings and at the computer; bending, stooping, squatting and moving freely in areas with moving aircraft and parts and where exposure to chemicals and fumes occurs; standing at the aircraft and on the production floor; walking through office and production areas including uneven surfaces; independent travel at short notice several times a year. Personal protective equipment: includes but is not limited to safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks and protective gloves as required by the site or customer site. Requirements
