Role Overview Safair Operations, operating as FlySafair, has a vacancy for a Senior Certified Aviation Technician (Mechanical) at King Shaka International Airport. The successful applicant will report to the Durban Station Supervisor. Job reference number: SNRCERTTECH_DURMEC1. Department: SVM & Flight Line. Industry: Aviation. Job type: Permanent. Positions available: 1. Salary: Market related. Key Responsibilities Required to perform various SVM / Flight Line duties, including but not limited to: Conduct line maintenance inspections Ensure quality on the pre-flight, post-flight and transit inspections performed Perform routine and non-routine inspections and maintenance on aircraft so they meet the highest safety and operational standards Conduct routine inspections on the various mechanical systems on the aircraft Carry out fault finding and rectify defects based on the fault Perform A-checks, including weekly service checks Perform thorough daily inspections of the aircraft to identify any potential issues or defects Carry out the maintenance tasks necessary to ensure the airworthiness of the aircraft Adhere to established maintenance procedures and safety standards Record and sign off all activities properly as per SACAA requirements, ensuring all required legal aspects are complied with Comply at all times with Health and Safety requirements to ensure personal and other personnel safety, and fire and accident/incident prevention Ensure the work area, equipment and tooling are properly maintained and safe before starting any job Maintain the highest quality and standard of inspections Apply analytical thinking and troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions Communicate clearly and professionally to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of maintenance tasks Licences & Qualifications Grade 12 or equivalent Mechanical Trade Test Certificate (essential) Licensed AME with a SACAA A & C License on B737/800 Certified on B737/800 airframe series and 7B series engines (essential) Experience Minimum of 15 years' aviation experience (essential) Previous experience as an Aviation Technician on B737/800 mechanical systems (essential) Previous line maintenance exposure (essential) OJT experience (essential) Previous experience as an Aviation Technician on B737-8 (MAX) mechanical systems (advantageous) Requirements Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays Must be available and willing to travel at short notice, both locally and internationally Valid South African passport holder Sound understanding of technical aircraft publications and documentation Thorough understanding of the mechanical schematic systems Excellent knowledge and troubleshooting experience on B737/400/800 Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) Personal attributes Professional, high integrity, self-disciplined, ethical, reliable and dependable Proactive self-starter, capable of functioning without supervision Committed to delivering quality work; excellent time-keeping Able to follow instructions as per work instructions; detail orientated Additional Information Email applications will not be accepted. Requirements
