About the Company Safair Operations, trading as FlySafair, is a South African airline operating a Boeing 737 fleet. This is a permanent position in the aviation industry with a market-related salary. Role Overview FlySafair has a vacancy for a Senior Certified Aviation Technician (Mechanical) – Flight Line, based at the Lanseria base. The successful applicant will report to the Crew Chief (Flight Line). Key Responsibilities Perform SVM / flight line duties, including line maintenance inspections. Ensure quality on pre-flight, post-flight and transit inspections. Perform routine and non-routine inspections and maintenance so aircraft meet the highest safety and operational standards. Conduct routine inspections on the aircraft's various mechanical systems. Carry out fault finding and rectify defects accordingly. Perform A-checks, including weekly service checks. Perform thorough daily aircraft inspections to identify potential issues or defects. Complete the maintenance tasks needed to ensure the airworthiness of the aircraft. Adhere to established maintenance procedures and safety standards. Record and sign off all activities as required by SACAA, ensuring all legal requirements are met. Comply with health and safety requirements at all times to protect personnel and prevent fire and accidents or incidents. Ensure the work area, equipment and tooling are properly maintained and safe before starting any job. Maintain the highest quality and standard of inspections. Apply analytical thinking and troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. Communicate clearly and professionally to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of maintenance tasks. Licences & Qualifications Education: Grade 12 or equivalent. Essential: mechanical trade test certificate. Essential: licensed AME with a SACAA A & C licence on the B737-800. Essential: certified on B737-800 airframe series and 7B series engines. Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays. Available and willing to travel at short notice, both locally and internationally. Valid South African passport holder. Sound understanding of technical aircraft publications and documentation. Thorough understanding of the mechanical schematic systems. Excellent knowledge and troubleshooting experience on the B737-400/800. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Experience Essential: minimum of 15 years' aviation experience. Essential: previous experience as an aviation technician on B737-800 mechanical systems. Essential: previous line maintenance exposure. Essential: on-the-job training (OJT) experience. Advantageous: previous experience as an aviation technician on B737-8 (MAX) mechanical systems.
