About the Company Safair Operations, operating as FlySafair, is a South African airline operating a Boeing 737 fleet. Role Overview Safair Operations, operating as FlySafair, has a vacancy for a Senior Certified Aviation Technician (Avionics) in the Avionics department at its Head Office in Bonaero Park. The successful applicant will report to the Avionics Crew Chief. One position is available. Key Responsibilities Conduct line maintenance inspections. Conduct routine inspections on various avionics systems on the aircraft. Conduct fault finding and rectify based on the fault. Perform thorough daily inspections of the aircraft to identify any potential issues or defects. Conduct the necessary maintenance tasks to ensure the airworthiness of the aircraft. Adhere to established maintenance procedures and safety standards. Ensure all activities are properly recorded and signed off as per SACAA requirements, so that all required legal aspects are complied with. Comply with health and safety requirements at all times to ensure personal and personnel safety and fire and accident/incident prevention. Ensure the work area, equipment and tooling are properly maintained and safe before starting any job, to prevent accidents or incidents to aircraft and staff. Apply analytical thinking and troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. Communicate clearly and professionally to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of maintenance tasks. Licences & Qualifications Licensed AME with SACAA WI, W2, W3 (essential), as published by the airline. Trade Test Certificate in an avionics-related trade, for example Avionician, Aircraft Instrument Mechanic, Aircraft Electrician or Aircraft Radio Technician, SACAA recognised (essential). B737-800 system courses (essential). B737-8 (MAX) system course (advantageous). Oxygen course (advantageous). Grade 12 or equivalent (essential). Valid South African passport and driver's licence. Experience Minimum of 15 years' aviation maintenance experience (essential), with line and SVM experience (essential). Previous experience as an Aviation Technician on B737-800 avionics systems (essential). Previous experience as an Aviation Technician on B737-8 (MAX) avionics systems (advantageous); OJT experience (advantageous). Sound understanding of technical aircraft publications and documentation, including the SWPM. Thorough understanding of aviation regulations and safety standards, and a good understanding of avionics schematic systems. Excellent knowledge and troubleshooting experience on the B737-800. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). Must be willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays, including overtime when required. Must be available and willing to travel locally and internationally at short notice.
