About the Company Airbus Helicopters produces UH-72A Lakota helicopters for the U.S. Army and H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers at Columbus, Mississippi, on the eastern border of the state. The site hosts the helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and the Centre of Excellence for the entire North America region. Role Overview Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Senior Aircraft Avionics Technician to join its New Helicopter Completions team based in Columbus, Mississippi. You will perform assembly, installation, repair or replacement of aircraft electrical and electronic components and systems in the manufacture, maintenance or refurbishing of aircraft, and function checks of components. This is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period, which could be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a third-party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America. Key Responsibilities Maintain a close working relationship with the assigned lead person regarding schedules, priorities, availability of parts, supplies and tools, and special instructions as required. Perform work from blueprints, sketches, vendor and service manuals and other source data to obtain dimensions, locations, alignment, tolerances and other specification requirements. Use a variety of standard and specialised hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices and test equipment to complete work assignments. Ensure completed work complies with FAA regulations, customer requirements and company specifications. Licences & Qualifications A current A&P licence is a plus. Experience Minimum of six years of experience working on aircraft avionics, preferably rotorcraft. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and diagrams and apply standard shop practices in the fabrication and repair modification of aircraft structures. Requirements Must be able to read, write and speak English. Citizenship: must be able to work in the US without current or future need for visa sponsorship. Work location: on site 98%. Physical requirements: vision to read screens, documents, engineering drawings and wire numbers; hearing to take part in conversations and hear production floor alarms; speaking in conversations and meetings; operation of office equipment and production tools such as hydraulic lifts; carrying and lifting documents, tools, drawings and electronic equipment up to 60 lb; pushing and pulling equipment and tools; sitting for long periods at the aircraft, at backshop equipment, in meetings and at the computer; bending, stooping, squatting and kneeling; moving freely in areas with moving aircraft and parts and where exposure to chemicals and fumes occurs; standing at the aircraft and on the production floor; walking through office and production areas including uneven surfaces; independent travel at short notice several times a year. Personal protective equipment: includes but is not limited to safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks and protective gloves as required by the site or customer site.
