Role Overview STS Technical Services is hiring a Part 135 Director of Aircraft Maintenance in Waterford, Michigan. This direct-hire leadership opportunity supports a corporate aviation organisation with a fleet of Part 135 and Part 91 aircraft, and is responsible for overseeing maintenance control activities, ensuring FAA compliance, improving operational efficiency and leading the maintenance programme across a diverse turbine aircraft fleet. The Director provides strategic leadership to Maintenance Control, Planning and Quality Assurance teams while serving as the primary maintenance authority for the operation. The role suits an experienced aviation maintenance leader with deep Part 135 knowledge, strong regulatory understanding and the ability to manage people, budgets, aircraft availability and maintenance performance. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all Maintenance Control functions for Part 135 and Part 91 operations Ensure compliance with applicable FAA regulations, company policies and industry best practices Oversee aircraft maintenance programmes, inspections, airworthiness directives and service bulletins Supervise Maintenance Controllers, Maintenance Planning personnel and Quality Assurance staff Develop and execute maintenance strategies that maximise aircraft availability and operational reliability Manage vendor relationships and maintenance service providers to ensure quality, cost effectiveness and timely repairs Assist with development, tracking and management of annual aircraft maintenance budgets Collaborate with executive leadership to improve operational and financial performance Establish departmental goals, policies, procedures and performance standards Recruit, train, mentor and evaluate maintenance personnel Foster a culture centred on safety, compliance, teamwork and continuous improvement Ensure accurate electronic maintenance records and documentation are maintained Participate in strategic planning initiatives and departmental growth objectives Respond to operational issues, maintenance events, incidents and irregular operations as required Provide executive-level reporting on maintenance performance, compliance metrics and operational readiness Experience Extensive maintenance leadership experience supporting Part 135 multi-engine turbine aircraft operations Meets the experience requirements outlined in 14 CFR Part 119.69 Proven leadership and personnel management experience Experience managing budgets, forecasting, scheduling and maintenance planning Corporate aviation maintenance management experience preferred Previous experience leading maintenance operations for a managed aircraft fleet preferred Experience with CAMP, Corridor, CMP, Traxxall, FL3XX, SharePoint or similar maintenance tracking systems preferred Experience with electronic maintenance recordkeeping systems preferred Requirements Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, maintenance programmes and regulatory compliance requirements Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office and aviation maintenance software platforms Must be legally authorised to work in the United States What We Offer Competitive executive-level compensation package Comprehensive benefits package Direct-hire opportunity with long-term career growth potential Opportunity to lead maintenance operations within a well-established corporate aviation environment Additional Information To speak with a recruiting professional directly, call 1-800-359-4787.
