Role Overview The Maintenance Technician Development Program is aimed at people who want to gain the skills needed to obtain their Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) licence. The programme requires enrolment in a FAR 147 certified programme and offers mentorship plus a defined path towards certification and the start of a career with Horizon Air / Alaska Airlines. Participants accepted onto the programme sign an agreement to work for Horizon Air / Alaska Airlines for a minimum of 30 months. On completing the FAR 147 requirements and obtaining their A&P licence, participants become a Horizon Air Technician. Key Responsibilities Remain currently enrolled and in good standing with an approved A&P school. Attend quarterly check-ins with the assigned mentor or leader. Maintain effective communication with the company on curriculum progress. Commit to work for Horizon Air / Alaska Airlines for 2.5 years after completing the programme, and sign an agreement confirming this requirement. Licences & Qualifications Current enrolment in a certified FAR 147 FAA Airframe and Powerplant programme. Ability to obtain and maintain an A&P licence within 90 days of graduation. Ability to obtain and maintain an airport AOA badge. Valid driver's licence. High school diploma or equivalent. Requirements Minimum age of 18 and authorisation to work in the U.S. Ability and willingness to obtain a current valid passport allowing unrestricted travel to and from the U.S. without a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP). Ability and willingness to enter and exit Canada without restrictions and without requiring a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) in order to complete maintenance work. Ability and willingness to consistently lift 70 lbs and to bend, stoop, squat, reach and grasp. Ability and willingness to operate various types of ground support equipment, including movable turboways, forklifts, tow tractors, elevated boom lifts and hoists. Ability and willingness to work on elevated surfaces using stands, ladders or other suitable equipment to access aircraft surfaces at height. Ability to adapt to performing work according to set procedures, and to work independently or in a team. Detail oriented and highly organised, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability and willingness to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends and holidays. Ability to communicate in English.
