Role Overview The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising, coordinating and ensuring completion of all scheduled and line maintenance activities, as well as supervising, coordinating and performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities during the assigned shift. Key Responsibilities Oversee the management of all areas of either line or heavy maintenance, directing activities for the maintenance of all company-owned, leased or operated aircraft, support equipment and facilities Supervise the implementation of long- and short-range planning for line or heavy maintenance planning, programmes, objectives and policies Implement procedures for maintaining high standards of line or heavy aircraft maintenance so that aircraft conform to FAA, CommuteAir Maintenance Program and manufacturer quality standards Manage to the headcount requirements determined by the Line or Heavy Maintenance Manager Assist the Line or Heavy Maintenance Manager with the annual maintenance operations budget for the location Identify, develop, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost, rework and scrap at the location Supervise and monitor line or heavy maintenance at the location to keep the Maintenance Operations annual plan on target, acting as liaison between internal and external department leaders to ensure decisions are communicated properly Train, develop and evaluate employees at the location; take timely corrective action within company policy to address performance deficiencies and ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and company labour requirements Coordinate the implementation of facility projects, for example hangar and shop layouts, installation of capital equipment and major repairs Coordinate the implementation of programmes essential to operational sustainability and consistency, for example safety, cost reduction, security, 5S, training and employee involvement Actively survey work progress using the CA-118 SUP Self-Audit Form; use it daily as an aid and send it weekly to the Base Manager and to Quality Assurance/CASS for further evaluation Perform other duties as assigned Authority Perform any maintenance action for which the holder has been trained, qualified or authorised Approve parts requests for non-stocked parts May remove any aircraft from service when an unairworthy condition exists May return company aircraft and equipment to service under the privileges of the certificate held and company authorisations This individual may not delegate authorities to other maintenance personnel Licences & Qualifications Licence: must hold a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate and the required company authorisations Valid state-issued driver's licence and a government-issued passport Legally authorised to work in the USA Experience At least one year of experience as a Certificated Mechanic or Repairman Demonstrated leadership ability and the technical knowledge required to perform the duties of the position Knowledge of the appropriate Maintenance Policies and Procedures Requirements Positive attitude toward productivity, safety and quality of maintenance Organised, with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities regularly Ability to read, speak and understand English Must have own set of tools Physical and environmental conditions Heavy work: exerting up to 70 lbs of force frequently and up to 20 lbs regularly to move objects Ability to safely drive tugs, trucks and hangar equipment, taxi aircraft and stay alert to moving vehicles and aircraft in the work area Ability to lift, push, pull and manoeuvre up to 50 lbs regularly; bend, stoop, crawl, crouch and kneel frequently, often in confined spaces Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to hear instructions orally in loud environments and detect fine differences in sound that may affect the repair or operation of aircraft Willingness to wear personal protective equipment when necessary; all physical requirements may be performed with or without accommodation Visual acuity: machine operation and visual inspection plus office administrative functions, including inspection of small defects and small parts, operation of machines using measuring devices, and assembly or fabrication of parts, with or without corrective lenses Environment: depending on location, may involve indoor and outdoor conditions including extreme heat above 100 degrees for more than an hour and extreme cold below 32 degrees for extended periods; high noise levels requiring PPE; vibration; hazards such as moving parts, electrical current, ladder work, chemicals and power equipment; atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odours, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation; air and skin exposure to oils and other fluids; a respirator may be required at times What We Offer Comprehensive benefits and competitive pay Internal advancement programmes Personal flight benefits on the Star Alliance network for the employee and family Additional Information CommuteAir uses artificial intelligence and automated tools to support parts of application review and recruiting, but all screening, evaluation and hiring decisions are made by human recruiters and hiring managers. Requirements
