Role Overview The Maintenance Safety & Compliance Specialist facilitates the advancement of the PSA Safety Management System (SMS), assists base managers with root cause analysis, management of change and risk assessments, and promotes safety and compliance in the hangar environment. The successful candidate will be a team player with excellent communication and organizational skills. Key Responsibilities Support the PSA Safety Management System (SMS) across all areas of the Maintenance department and assist in promoting it. Assist in drafting SMS risk assessments and management of change forms, and input and maintain all SMS documentation in the SMS database. Monitor the effective implementation of policies, procedures and programs through the safety assurance process. Work with front-line employees to achieve cultural change within the maintenance organization. Assist in developing and delivering SMS training for maintenance personnel, and deliver maintenance new-hire safety presentations for all new maintenance technicians. Conduct comprehensive risk analysis, audits and observations, and work with management to develop mitigation strategies addressing root causes. Conduct safety investigations of significant operational mishaps and perform safety evaluations at facilities to proactively identify and mitigate safety and health hazards. Assist each maintenance base manager with root cause analysis (RCA) investigations. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations by all maintenance-related personnel (technicians, leads, supervisors and stores). Inspect work areas for compliance with applicable regulations, including OSHA and EPA requirements. Attend airport safety and compliance meetings at the applicable maintenance base. Maintain positive, proactive relations with managers, employees, customers and regulatory agencies, and interface with other departments, the FAA and union representatives on maintenance safety issues and programs. Develop and distribute maintenance safety articles, alerts and briefs to communicate critical maintenance safety information, and respond to issues raised in reports by briefing company management and posting alerts, briefs and bulletins for maintenance employees. Create and compile information for the Maintenance Safety Briefing. Act as liaison between the maintenance bases, CASS, RCA and the ASAP Event Review Committee. Participate in the Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS) meeting and the Maintenance Data Analysis Group (MDAG) meeting. Support company accident, incident and injury reduction efforts by developing proactive and educational safety programs and sharing safety data and trends to reduce the frequency and severity of mishaps. Serve as a Go Team member in the event of an accident. Take responsibility for the company Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and the associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Advanced technical degree in safety, engineering, an aviation-related field or a closely related discipline. Outstanding management and organizational skills. Excellent writing and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office software. Ability to speak, read and write English. If hired, must be able to demonstrate authorization to work in the United States. Preferred: bachelor's degree in aviation. Licences & Qualifications A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) certificate. Experience Minimum of two years in the airline industry, including at least one year of safety program experience. Accident investigation, root cause analysis (RCA) and/or safety program experience. Preferred: previous safety experience. Additional Information This is not a supervisory position and no specific authorities are assigned. In the incumbent's absence, responsibilities are delegated to the Maintenance Safety Program Manager. Work environment: professional office environment using standard office equipment. The role is largely sedentary, but the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs, lift up to 25 lbs, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Security clearance: all employees must pass the fingerprint-based criminal history records check (CHRC) per 49 CFR 1542.209 and a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements
