Job Description

About the Company Sun Country Airlines is a hybrid low-cost carrier with more than 40 years of Minnesota roots. It operates scheduled flights to destinations across the U.S., Canada, Central America and the Caribbean, as well as charter and cargo operations worldwide. Role Overview The Maintenance Controller is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the airline from a maintenance standpoint, ensuring that Sun Country Airlines' aircraft are maintained in an airworthy condition regardless of where they are located or who is making the necessary repairs. Key Responsibilities Maintain the aircraft fleet to the highest possible standards to assure a safe, economical and on-time operation Remain aware of the mechanical status of all operating aircraft and the general status and expected availability of all aircraft undergoing maintenance, keeping the System Operations Control centre informed of aircraft availability, particularly if an aircraft cannot meet its schedule Provide a current and continuing follow-up system of deferred repairs to ensure positive corrective action is taken on a timely basis, coordinating the activities of Materials and contractors to accomplish this Assist in planning the development and issuance of the daily remain-overnight work packages as directed by the Manager Maintenance Control/Maintenance Planning Maintain direct oversight and control over on-call line maintenance providers in the resolution of aircraft maintenance issues, ensuring the provider performs the maintenance as required Conduct all tasks safely and in compliance with local, state and federal safety and health regulatory requirements and internal policies Licences & Qualifications A&P certificate with currency requirements met Must be able to obtain a Minneapolis SIDA badge Preferred: 737 General Familiarisation certificate Experience Three or more years of experience on the 737-800 or similar aircraft type Experience troubleshooting equipment and operational issues Preferred: previous maintenance control experience Requirements Strong mechanical aptitude Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the company Strong attention to detail and organisational skills Ability to work under minimal supervision and to exercise independent judgement, discretion and initiative Self-motivated with independent problem-solving ability What We Offer Base compensation of $43.75 per hour plus shift differentials Comprehensive benefit package including dental and vision PPO and high-deductible health plans Health savings account and flexible spending account Free standby and discounted travel privileges from day one for employees, family and friends 401(k) match Paid time off and paid holidays Life and AD&D insurance Employee Assistance Program including counselling for employees and their family Fitness incentive and stop-smoking support Additional Information Classification: full-time, non-exempt. Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota. No supervisory responsibility. This position is represented by the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association and the compensation schedule is based on the collective bargaining agreement. Work environment: a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. Physical demands: the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms; and occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities required include close, distance, colour, peripheral and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Requirements
