About the Company Republic Airways is one of the largest regional airlines in the United States, operating modern Embraer E170/E175 aircraft on behalf of Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and United Airlines from bases across the country. Role Overview Full-time position within the Maintenance team. The Maintenance Composite Technician performs composite aircraft maintenance activities according to established policies and procedures, as directed by a lead mechanic or supervisor. Key Responsibilities Perform all assigned work in accordance with company work cards, logbook entries and the applicable aircraft, component and engine maintenance manuals, the Structural Repair Manual (SRM) or company-generated engineering documents. Complete all associated documentation and prepare it for records filing. Remain current on all revisions to company manuals. Keep upper management informed of issues that may affect work performance. Comply with all safety rules and regulations and follow the written procedures for support shops. Carry out composite shop work, paint preparation, sanding and painting. Carry out aircraft maintenance activities to established policies and procedures as directed by a lead mechanic or supervisor. Perform additional jobs or duties as assigned. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Stable employment history. Valid driver's licence and a clean driving record. Must own the required tools. Able to work both in a team and individually. Able to pass the FAA-required 10-year work history review and criminal background and fingerprint checks. Willing to submit to and pass FAA and company mandated random drug and alcohol tests. Language, reasoning and decision making Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Able to write routine reports and correspondence, and to speak effectively and be understood in front of groups of company associates. Able to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written, oral or diagram instructions and to deal with problems involving several variables in standardised situations. Makes limited decisions and determines the best methods to solve problems by referring to established precedents and policies; the impact of decisions is moderately low. Licences & Qualifications FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) licence. Experience Preferred: previous experience as an A&P mechanic or airline experience. Preferred: 18 months of professional aircraft experience in composites, wet lay-ups, metal-to-metal hot bond, vacuum bag repairs and core replacement, familiarity with sheet metal practices, and the ability to work from engineering drawings and written specifications. What We Offer Full-time permanent role in the Maintenance team. Additional Information Physical demands: standing, walking, using hands and reaching at least 90% of the time; climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling up to 60% of the time; lifting up to 50 pounds at least 35% of the time and lifting or moving 75 pounds over 70% of the time. Vision sufficient to perform the work and to see approaching vehicles, aircraft and machinery is required. Work environment: work near moving mechanical parts and with fumes or airborne particles over 90% of the time; work in high, precarious places up to 50% of the time; work around toxic or caustic chemicals up to 30% of the time; risk of electric shock and work with explosives up to 10% of the time; outdoor weather conditions inside and outside an open-air hangar and at the airport terminal up to 100% of the time. The environment can be very loud. Must be able to wear a respirator and protective equipment, which requires minimal facial hair to ensure proper respirator fit under OSHA regulations. Must be able to work nights, evenings, weekends and holidays to support 24-hour operations. Travel: up to 20% of the time, including overnight stays.
