Job Description

Role Overview Position title: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer / Senior Aircraft Maintenance Engineer / Duty Engineer. Grade: Associate Manager. Function: Engineering. Location: pan-India. The role carries out inspection and certification of work connected with aircraft maintenance of instruments, electrics, radio communication and navigation, airframe and powerplant. The post holder is responsible for the performance of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and must ensure that assigned aircraft are supported and maintained in an airworthy condition. Key Responsibilities Ensure all maintenance, repair and overhaul work is performed in accordance with manufacturer requirements and recommendations and with regulatory requirements Take responsibility for all work carried out and certified within the scope of your authorisation privileges, and ensure statutory airworthiness regulations and company requirements are met Ensure all work sheets, inspection schedules and maintenance records are properly completed, certified and preserved in accordance with civil airworthiness requirements Ensure delay reports and occurrence reports are prepared on time Make and sign Technical Log entries only where permitted — only AMEs or specially authorised persons may do so, as prescribed in the regulatory requirements Ensure defects found during inspection and those reported by flight crew in flight are rectified in an approved manner, and bring major defects to the notice of post holders through the respective Maintenance Managers, Line/Base Maintenance Managers or Shift In-charges Ensure inspections and other work follow approved methods and standard airworthiness practices, in compliance with DGCA rules and regulations Ensure tools and equipment used in maintenance are serviceable and subject to periodic inspection or calibration where applicable, and report defective shop equipment or tools for rectification Ensure only approved materials and parts are used at all stages of the work Follow safety procedures when handling equipment and tools and when servicing aircraft or components Keep knowledge current on technical requirements and instructions issued by the Quality Department, Technical Services Department, aircraft or component manufacturers and airworthiness authorities Supervise work performed by Senior Engineers, Engineers, technicians and other technical staff and ensure they observe standard airworthiness procedures and requirements Exercise privileges strictly within the scope of licence or approval, subject to validity, rating and current experience as stipulated in the relevant DGCA directives Confirm interchangeability of components through IPC/IPD references or other relevant approved documentation Report all vehicle, ramp and aircraft unserviceability immediately to the Shift In-charge Maintain a personal logbook detailing all maintenance activity carried out Undertake any additional responsibility assigned from time to time as a standalone project or regular work, agreed between the post holder, reporting officer and HR Requirements Skills and qualities: attention to detail, stakeholder management, planning and coordination skills, technical expertise in maintenance processes, awareness of compliance requirements, and leadership skills Education: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or equivalent Training: ab-initio AME training from a DGCA-approved institution Licences & Qualifications Must hold a CAR 66 type rating of Category B1, B2 or C licence on the company's Airbus and Boeing fleet Experience AME: 0–3 years of maintenance experience; 0–3 years of certifying experience on the Air India fleet desired Senior AME: 3–6 years of maintenance experience; 3–6 years of certifying experience on the Air India fleet desired Duty Engineer: 6 or more years of maintenance experience; 6 or more years of certifying experience on the Air India fleet desired Additional Information Key performance indicators: customer complaints, including cabin defect rectification and release of unserviceable seats; adherence to regulatory, safety and quality compliance; personnel qualification, meaning engineer's licence rating and current authorisation on the fleet; and number of defects, covering on-time performance and technical delay report management. Key interfaces: internally, engineering teams — analysing all technical delays in coordination with Maintenance Control Centre and Technical Services, maintaining records and taking improvement action. Externally, DGCA representatives — coordinating on various regulatory requirements.

Requirements
