Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician - Weekends, First Shift

Job Description

Role Overview Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician for weekends, first shift, in the OSC Hangar 10 department, reporting to the Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor. The role oversees the various maintenance functions carried out on company aircraft by Aircraft Maintenance Technicians, Mechanics and Apprentices, in accordance with all company policies and procedures and all federal aviation regulations. Key Responsibilities Oversee and assist work approved by the Supervisors within the scheduled shift Work with the assigned crew so that projects achieve quality work on time and on budget, and ensure productivity and budgets are satisfactory Ensure company and FAA procedures are followed Monitor personnel for attendance and carry out evaluations of crew members Keep a safe, clean workplace at all times and recommend improvements to the Supervisors to increase performance and quality Report any problems affecting projects to the Supervisors Ensure personnel follow instructions and perform tasks safely and efficiently Ensure waste materials, oils and fluids are handled correctly Ensure completeness of all assigned work documents and records Oversee on-the-job training during the shift so that qualification standards are met and maintained Coordinate all activities with the Maintenance Supervisors Research all pertinent information and material for work scheduled on aircraft Oversee and assist in the clean-up of the maintenance work area and ensure all maintenance areas meet good housekeeping standards Maintain positive tool control accountability at all times and report lost or found tools to management immediately Perform data entry as required, and other duties as assigned Comply with and implement the necessary procedures in the MEL/CDL/NEF programme Monitor the proper completion of aircraft records, for example logbook pages, work cards, non-routines and engineering documents (EOs, EAs and similar) Maintain familiarity with the training requirements defined in the AMTM and ensure training is current before performing the functions and tasks of the position Always follow approved published procedures and never deviate from them unless a deviation is properly authorised Licences & Qualifications Licence: FAA-certificated mechanic with a Powerplant licence, or Airframe and Powerplant licences (may be reviewed based on location and position); evidence must be provided on hire and/or on request High school diploma or G.E.D. Valid US driver's licence Must obtain Engine Run / Taxi qualification when requested by management, if applicable to the location Must be able to pass a 10-year background check and any location-specific requirements Must be able to obtain an airport SIDA badge and a United States Customs seal if required Experience Two (2) years of maintenance experience on Boeing 747-400, 777F / 777-300 or similar aircraft is recommended but not required, covering maintenance checks, engine changes, gear changes, structural repairs, flight control rigging and component maintenance - or successful completion of an accredited A&P mechanic training course Must be able to read and interpret technical data and manuals Requirements Able to read, write, speak and understand English; able to write routine reports and correspondence, and to give and receive verbal and written direction to team members Must demonstrate behaviour reflecting the company core values of Safety, Respect, Trust, Collaboration, Value and Passion when communicating with personnel and acting on behalf of the company Additional Information Physical demands: The position requires extremely strenuous physical work, occasionally involving objects in excess of 100 lbs and frequently in excess of 50 lbs, and the employee must be able to stand for long periods. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, talk or hear and use hands to feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
