Role Overview The Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician is a working member of the Aircraft Maintenance Technician group who provides technical leadership, coordination and work direction to assigned technicians. The role is the primary liaison between maintenance personnel, production control and maintenance leadership, ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and in compliance with FAA regulations and company procedures. Key Responsibilities Lead, direct and approve the work of assigned Aircraft Maintenance Technicians Act as the interface between supervisors or managers and assigned group members Coordinate maintenance activities with Production Control and Maintenance Coordinators Provide technical support and guidance to assigned mechanics Coordinate staffing and overtime needs with management Track, update and communicate task progress and ready times Research technical issues and expedite parts availability Assign scheduled maintenance tasks and non-routine work based on skill, workload and timelines Participate in daily maintenance planning and shift turnover meetings Monitor maintenance progress to ensure airworthiness and schedule compliance Coordinate aircraft movements, parking and hangar activity Support troubleshooting and resolution of aircraft discrepancies Ensure proper documentation, parts usage and work sign-off Maintain housekeeping standards for hangars, tooling and equipment Licences & Qualifications Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) licence High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's licence required Must be able to obtain a SIDA badge Preferred: valid US passport Experience Ability to perform all duties of an Aircraft Maintenance Technician Preferred: 2 years of prior experience in a lead or coordinating role Preferred: 2 years of Boeing 737 maintenance experience Preferred: 2 years of heavy check or hangar maintenance experience Preferred: familiarity with maintenance tracking and production control processes Preferred: previous supervisory experience Requirements Strong technical, communication and organisational skills Ability to work under time-critical and safety-sensitive conditions What We Offer Base compensation of $41.75 per hour plus a shift differential and sign-on bonus Comprehensive benefit package including dental and vision PPO and high-deductible health plans Health savings accounts (HSA and FSA) and dependent care Free standby and discounted travel privileges from day one for employees, family and friends 401(k) match Paid time off and paid holidays Life and AD&D insurance Employee Assistance Program including counselling for employees and their family Fitness incentive and stop-smoking support Additional Information Classification: full-time, non-exempt. Location: San Bernardino, California (SBD Airport). This position is represented by the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association and the compensation schedule is based on the collective bargaining agreement. Work environment: the job operates in the maintenance hangar and ramp area and is routinely exposed to all weather elements. Physical demands: work is performed standing, sitting and walking, and requires effective communication using speech, vision and hearing; simple grasping and fine manipulation; bending, squatting, crawling, climbing and reaching; and lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling medium weights up to 75 pounds. Involves working around moving machinery and exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity and to dust, fumes and gases. Requirements
