Role Overview The Lead Technician coordinates the activities of the assigned maintenance department, directing the work of maintenance personnel to minimise delays and increase production and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Plan, direct, lay out and coordinate the activities of the assigned maintenance department so as to minimise delays and increase production and efficiency. The Lead Technician is a working member of the maintenance group and reports directly to the Supervisor of Maintenance. Lead or direct no more than 18 employees. Train and assist subordinates in the proper procedures, methods and practices for each duty. Keep work areas, buildings, ground support equipment and materials used for aircraft maintenance in a safe, clean and operable condition. Make certain that the responsible mechanic properly executes all necessary work records. Coordinate properly between assigned maintenance personnel and the Inspection department. Delegate the duties of the Lead Technician where necessary, noting that delegation does not relieve the Lead Technician of overall responsibility. Take responsibility for the company Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and the associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Thorough knowledge of aircraft maintenance processes and the ability to use the applicable manuals (GMM, AMM, FIM, wiring diagrams and similar). Competent in the use of the required calibrated test equipment. In good company standing (STEP 1 violations considered). Good organizational and communication skills. Must hold, or be able to obtain, a U.S. passport or equivalent within 90 days of starting the position. Ability to speak, read and write English. If hired, must be able to demonstrate authorization to work in the United States. Licences & Qualifications FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification. Run and taxi qualified within 120 days, including AMA if applicable. Airworthiness Release qualified within 90 days. PSA Indoctrination training and General Familiarization (training qualifications accepted). Experience One year of experience on turbine-powered aircraft with a maximum gross take-off weight (MGTOW) of 12,500 lbs. Additional Information This position leads others but has no direct reports, and no specific authorities are assigned. In the incumbent's absence, responsibilities are delegated to the Manager of Maintenance. Work environment: professional office environment using standard office equipment. The role is largely sedentary, but the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs, lift up to 25 lbs, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Security clearance: all employees must pass the fingerprint-based criminal history records check (CHRC) per 49 CFR 1542.209 and a pre-employment drug screen.
