Role Overview The Inspector supports the Maintenance and Quality Assurance departments by repairing and inspecting aircraft repairs, helping to maintain safe and reliable conditions for employees and customers. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, Federal Aviation Regulations and Airworthiness Directives applicable to the aircraft or component assigned by the Chief Inspector. Handle all parts and components properly while in the repair process. Verify that all inspections are properly performed on completed work before it is released. Coordinate with the Stores department, when required, on the inspection of parts with obvious defects to determine whether the item is acceptable. Coordinate with the Quality Control Supervisor on calibrated tools that need to be sent out for calibration or repair. Train and assist other employees in the proper procedures, methods and practices for each duty. Initiate the correct paperwork for scheduled maintenance. Inspect all parts on the inspection cart to confirm they were received correctly in accordance with the parts card. Maintain a safe and compliant work environment by complying with the Safety Policy and Procedures Manual and General Maintenance Manual policies, and ensure subordinates follow the same policies and procedures. Recommend adjustments to methods and procedures that increase safety and aircraft reliability, and submit manual revisions for any ineffective process or procedure. Provide oversight of all maintenance as time permits. Take responsibility for the company Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and the associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs. Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Control Supervisor, the Assistant Chief Inspector or the Quality Control Manager/Chief Inspector. Requirements Competent in the use of the required calibrated test equipment. Ability to interpret and understand PSA Airlines work package instructions, and to inspect and install parts and components. Thorough knowledge of PSA Airlines manuals. In good company standing (STEP 1 violations considered). Good knowledge of FAA regulations as they apply to the performance of aircraft maintenance. Ability to interpret internal and external technical data such as manufacturers' manuals, engineering orders and PSA Airlines work documents. Strong ability with the Microsoft Office suite and maintenance software. Excellent organizational and communication skills; detail oriented, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-functional environment. Must be able to pass the vision test for NDT endorsement. Capable of using respirators and other personal protective equipment, including eye and hearing protection. Must hold, or be able to obtain, a U.S. passport or equivalent within 90 days of starting the position. Must be able to speak, read and write English. Must be able to demonstrate authorization to work in the United States. Licences & Qualifications Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification. Completion of PSA Airlines Indoctrination training and General Familiarization (training qualifications accepted). Must hold or obtain Airworthiness Release Qualification within 120 days. Must hold or obtain CAT II authorization within 120 days. NDT endorsements, or willingness to attend the next available class. Borescope certification, or willingness to attend the next available class. Preferred: run-up and taxi qualified. Experience At least two years of experience in aircraft maintenance. Preferred: at least one year of experience working on the PSA Airlines aircraft fleet. Additional Information This is not a supervisory position and no specific authorities are assigned. In the incumbent's absence, responsibilities are delegated to the Assistant Chief Inspector or the Manager of Quality Control/Chief Inspector, and the Quality Control Supervisor handles the delegation of duty. Work environment: professional office environment using standard office equipment. The role is largely sedentary, but the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs, lift up to 25 lbs, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Security clearance: all employees must pass the fingerprint-based criminal history records check (CHRC) per 49 CFR 1542.209 and a pre-employment drug screen.
