About the Company Joby is developing a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically and carries passengers quietly over congested city streets. The company has been working towards that goal since 2009 and is now in the final stages of certifying its aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch in the United States and Dubai, Joby is scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of its commercial service. Role Overview Joby Aviation is seeking driven individuals to join its flight maintenance team. The role requires a wide range of knowledge and skills, from the basics of airframe and powerplant maintenance on composite airframes to advanced electro-mechanical devices and high voltage electrical systems. Integrity, the desire to learn and a can-do attitude are essential in this fast-paced environment. The role is based in Marina, CA. Key Responsibilities Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance per company procedures and maintenance manuals Perform aircraft inspections per company procedures and maintenance manuals Remove and replace airframe, powerplant and electrical components per company procedures and maintenance manuals Complete required documentation in accordance with established company and FAA procedures Perform launch and recovery of aircraft, including ground operations and observer responsibilities, as well as pre- and post-flight activities Participate in Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) in accordance with company guidelines Maintain and operate ground support equipment Help continually develop maintenance manuals and supporting documentation needed to operate and maintain the vehicles Observe all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever business is conducted on behalf of the company Work safely in accordance with established operating procedures and practices Other duties as assigned or required Licences & Qualifications FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate High school diploma or equivalent Desired: FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) certificate Experience Five or more years of mechanical and electrical experience Desired: experience working on experimental and/or prototype vehicles Desired: Part 135 maintenance experience Desired: composite fabrication and repair experience Desired: Cessna 208 mechanic experience Requirements Able to work with electro-mechanical devices, high voltage power systems and electronics equipment; relevant training is provided Able to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents General working knowledge of hand tools and precision measuring equipment Basic computer and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with coworkers Able to work independently and in a team, and to work extended hours and travel as required Read and speak English proficiently What We Offer Target base pay of $47 to $65 per hour with an A&P certificate, determined by job-related knowledge, skills and experience Compensation is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) Paid time off Healthcare benefits 401(k) plan with a company match Employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) Short-term and long-term disability coverage Life insurance and more Additional Information Physical requirements: able to walk and stand on level and inclined surfaces for extended periods; climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands; crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above and below shoulders; and lift, push or pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
