Flight Maintenance Engineer

Job Description

Role Overview The Flight Maintenance Engineer (FME) travels with an aircraft and is responsible for providing total line maintenance and technical support for the aircraft to which they are assigned. The role sits in the Maintenance department and reports to the FME Supervisor. Key Responsibilities Conduct terminating service maintenance checks on B747, B767 and B777 aircraft. Conduct daily checks on B747, B767 and B777 aircraft. Conduct ETOPS pre-departure service checks on B777 aircraft (ETOPS authorisation required). Maintain contact with Maintenance Control regarding the aircraft's condition. Accomplish all required servicing and updates of the aircraft. Troubleshoot and repair non-scheduled and deferred maintenance defects using the FIM and AMM manuals, and complete all return-to-service paperwork. Forward copies of repair information to Maintenance Control as work is completed and send original paperwork to Aircraft Records. Maintain a current inventory of the fly-away kits (FAK), including serviceable and unserviceable parts and tools, ensure all FAK parts and tools are secured per the Kalitta Air weight and balance manual, coordinate the return of used parts, and maintain and update the Fly-Away Kit Deviations Form while accomplishing terminating service checks. Keep the flight and supernumerary areas clean, safe and free of loose items, and provide a list of needed supplies to the station representative. On international flights, ensure all garbage and food items are bagged for disposal per federal regulations and accomplish bug disinfection as required. Report to line station supervisory personnel when on the ground at a line maintenance station. Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor or Maintenance Control. Requirements Must be eligible to work in the United States. Must be organised and able to work with computers and programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Language: ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English, write routine reports and correspondence, and give verbal and written direction to assigned staff. Licences & Qualifications FAA Airframe & Power Plant (A&P) Certificate. ETOPS authorisation is required to conduct B777 ETOPS pre-departure service checks. Experience High school graduate; some college and/or technical school desirable. Additional Information Travel Requirements The FME travels with an aircraft on a 20 days on, 10 days off rotation. International travel requires interaction with foreign and domestic customs officials, and the FME must meet each country's expectations and remain in compliance. Physical Demands The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, talk or hear, and use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and occasionally to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Requirements
