Role Overview The Crew Lead is responsible for monitoring the work performed by Certificated Technicians, including the proper execution of paperwork and forms in accordance with company, manufacturer and federal requirements. Key Responsibilities Perform maintenance work and monitor Certificated Technicians on aircraft in and around company shops, maintenance bases and line stations, including periodic aircraft service checks, dismantling, overhauling, repairing, fabricating and assembling all parts of aircraft and aircraft components. Maintain work areas, tools and vehicles in a safe, clean and functional condition at all times. Perform routine releases returning aircraft, or aircraft components on which you have performed maintenance, to service. Assist in the supervision and training of all work performed by Non-Certificated Apprentice Technicians. Assist in identifying company and manufacturer manual deficiencies for management review. Notify the appropriate Inspection personnel whenever a Required Inspection Item (RII) is identified during maintenance. Ensure hazardous materials storage is inspected frequently for proper containers, lids, labelling and location, and that materials are handled and stored in accordance with company and regulatory requirements. Maintain regular attendance, which is an essential function of all positions at CommuteAir. Carry out other duties as assigned. Authority Perform any maintenance action for which you have been trained, qualified or authorised. Approve parts requests for non-stocked parts. Remove any aircraft from service when an unairworthy condition exists. Return company aircraft and equipment to service under the privileges of your certificate and company authorisations. This role may not delegate authorities to other maintenance personnel, as indicated in the organisation chart. Requirements Demonstrate a positive attitude towards productivity, safety and quality maintenance. Valid state-issued driver's licence and government-issued passport. Organised, with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities regularly. Able to read, speak and understand English. Legally authorised to work in the USA. Licences & Qualifications Current Airframe and Powerplant certificate, or another certificate acceptable to management such as Repairman, Powerplant or Airframe. Additional Information Physical requirements (heavy work): exerting up to 50 lbs of force frequently and up to 20 lbs regularly to move objects. Safely drive tugs, trucks and hangar equipment and taxi aircraft, staying alert to moving vehicles and aircraft. Lift, push, pull and manoeuvre up to 50 lbs regularly; bend, stoop, crawl, crouch and kneel frequently, often in confined spaces. Stand and walk for extended periods. Hear instructions in loud environments and detect fine differences in sound that may affect aircraft repair or operation. Wear personal protective equipment when necessary. All physical requirements may be performed with or without accommodation. Visual acuity: the role requires the standard applied to inspection, close assembly and clerical/administrative work: preparing and analysing data and figures, computer use, extensive reading, visual inspection of small defects and small parts, and operating machines using measuring devices, with or without corrective lenses. Environmental conditions: depending on work location, exposure to inside and outside conditions including extreme heat (above 100 degrees for periods of more than an hour) and extreme cold (below 32 degrees for extended periods); high noise levels that may require PPE; vibration affecting the extremities or the whole body; hazards including proximity to moving parts, electrical current, working on ladders and exposure to chemicals and power equipment; atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odours, dusts, mists and gases, or work in poorly ventilated areas; air and skin exposure to oils and other fluids. A respirator may be required at times.
