About the Company Joby is developing a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically and carries passengers quietly over congested city streets. The company has been working towards that goal since 2009 and is now in the final stages of certifying its aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch in the United States and Dubai, Joby is scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of its commercial service. Role Overview Joby Aviation is seeking a pilot and project manager for its commercial operations team, flying for the company's certificated 14 CFR Part 135 entity while driving the development, planning and execution of air taxi operations in domestic and international markets. The role requires strategic thinking to represent Joby's vision to in-market commercial, political and regulatory stakeholders, and tactical delivery across everything from drafting operational manuals to coordinating cross-functional stakeholders on go-to-market plans. Prior aviation operations experience is the foundation from which you will build eVTOL operations knowledge and become a subject matter expert, offering a credible perspective on and driving the workstreams required to launch a commercial eVTOL air taxi service. You may eventually qualify to fly the eVTOL aircraft. The position is located at Joby's offices in Marina, California. Key Responsibilities Operate as a 14 CFR Part 135 line pilot on Joby's conventionally powered fixed-wing aircraft Learn the systems and operation of Joby's eVTOL aircraft to support operational definitions, commercial requirements development and potential training as an eVTOL pilot Support all aspects of safe and successful eVTOL flight demonstrations, including certificate of airworthiness, frequency and spectrum allocation, flight test, pilot and engineer staffing plans, concept of operations, logistics and insurance matters Collaborate with product, business development, infrastructure, government operations and policy teams to develop and maintain go-to-market timelines for commercial air taxi operations Represent Joby's air taxi concept of flight operations to internal and external stakeholders through applied knowledge of aviation regulations and flight operations Drive identification, progress tracking and completion of objectives that enable air taxi launch, identifying blockers, dependencies and sources of execution risk Build deep understanding of commercial air and ground operations in major US and international markets, heliports and airports, and apply it to Joby's eVTOL concept of operations Licences & Qualifications FAA Commercial Pilot certificate (single-engine airplane land) Airplane instrument rating Current first or second class medical certificate, or the ability to obtain one before employment Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Desired: FAA Airline Transport Pilot - airplane multi-engine Desired: FAA certified flight instructor Desired: MBA or advanced engineering, aerospace, aviation or safety degree Experience Meets the experience requirements of 14 CFR Part 135.243(c) At least 1,200 hours of flight time, including 500 hours cross-country, 100 hours night and 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time, at least 50 of which were in actual flight Impeccable safety record and FAA enforcement record Demonstrated experience leading multiple simultaneous and interrelated projects supporting programme objectives Desired: prior experience as a PC-12 pilot in command Desired: at least 3,000 hours pilot in command flight time Desired: prior experience as a pilot at a 14 CFR Part 135 or 121 air carrier or foreign equivalent Desired: 4+ years of operational experience at, or working with, a major commercial air carrier or major airport Desired: expertise in project management tools and concepts Requirements Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficiency in common workplace software, including Microsoft and/or Google office tools and spreadsheets 30% travel required Full-time, on-site work in Marina, CA What We Offer Target base pay of $114,300 to $196,200 per year, determined by job-related knowledge, skills and experience Compensation is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) Paid time off Healthcare benefits 401(k) plan with a company match Employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) Short-term and long-term disability coverage Life insurance and more Additional Information Joby is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Requirements

• Operate as a 14 CFR Part 135 line pilot on Joby's conventionally powered fixed-wing aircraft
• Learn the systems and operation of Joby's eVTOL aircraft to support operational definitions, commercial requirements development and potential training as an eVTOL pilot

• Current first or second class medical certificate, or the ability to obtain one before employment
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Desired: FAA Airline Transport Pilot - airplane multi-engine
• Desired: FAA certified flight instructor
