Role Overview The Maintenance Manager, a DGCA postholder, is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of Air India's aircraft fleet and simulators at the Flying Training Organisation (FTO), in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, and fulfils all regulatory responsibilities of the postholder. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement a maintenance programme under Air India's CAR 145 for the FTO fleet, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and airline and industry best practices. Develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance programme for all aircraft and flight training devices, ensuring maintenance, inspections and tracking of maintenance records. Develop and implement a stocking system and an ERP for optimal maintenance. Align with airline maintenance standards to improve operational efficiency. Monitor the performance of aircraft and equipment to identify potential issues and take corrective action as necessary. Investigate and report on incidents and accidents related to aircraft maintenance and operation. Implement policies and train maintenance personnel on best practices for aircraft maintenance and safety. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of aircraft maintenance, inspections and repairs. Any other additional responsibility may be assigned from time to time as a standalone project or regular work, agreed between the incumbent, reporting officer and HR. Licences & Qualifications Minimum: AME licence in Category B1.2 or B3 in metal and composite category. Desired: master's or bachelor's technical degree. Experience Minimum: 10+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance and airworthiness management. Minimum: prior experience in DGCA-approved positions in FTOs / ATOs / NSOPs / airlines in India. Minimum: experience with single- and twin-engine fleet under 3,000 kg. Desired: 15+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance and airworthiness management. Desired: prior experience with a similar fleet (Piper and Diamond aircraft). Additional Information Skills required: strong leadership, decision-making agility, strategic planning, motivational ability, communication skills, safety commitment, interpersonal skills and adaptability. Key performance indicators: AOG time for aircraft, utilisation of aircraft at the FTO and inventory stocking practices. Key interfaces: internally the Aviation Academy, Air India FTO team, pilot training units, Engineering, training support staff and the Air India management team; externally FTO partners, AI cadets, regulatory authorities, aircraft OEMs, MROs and equipment vendors.
