About the Company Airbus Commercial Aircraft is recruiting for its site in Sterling, Virginia, near Washington Dulles International Airport. Located five miles from the airport and 30 miles from the U.S. Capitol, the site is the major parts distribution hub in the Americas. It is a 24/7 fulfilment centre with an Aircraft on Ground (AOG) support desk and Quality Assurance operations, and the 250,000 square foot warehouse uses new Autostore technology to increase productivity. Role Overview The Certifying Staff Quality Management Inspector joins a team focused on Product Assurance requirements and regulations, inspection plans, drawings and specifications linked to the activity. The team focuses on quality, productivity and efficiency, ensuring the highest quality of care and safety is built into each aircraft assembled and maintained. Key Responsibilities Material inspection Use existing aerospace knowledge and expertise to inspect a variety of finished products for conformance with FAA and EASA Part-21 specifications, established quality standards and customer requirements. Perform first article inspections on aerospace components and ground support equipment tools, and maintain material batch and manufacturer traceability information. Review, analyse and approve aerospace articles maintained under FAA and EASA Part-145 regulations and/or those that received special certification processes. Perform EASA Part-21 inspection procedures and issue EASA Form 1 certificates on all outgoing new material, with all inspections performed in accordance with Airbus quality policies and SAP inspection plans. Accept responsibility for a rotating 24-hour on-call shift schedule. Issue discrepancy reports and unserviceable tags on non-conforming material, and monitor and follow up storage conditions on all new and used spares material. Assist in resolving customer complaints concerning proprietary parts and supplier quality problems. Ensure quality system integrity; inspectors incur legal and liability responsibilities for the company when creating and signing airworthiness certificates and documents. Records traceability Maintain material batch and manufacturer traceability information. Document and record non-conformance process issues concerning business operations. Quality representative Represent the Quality Management department in internal meetings, working committees and modification programmes. Assist team members and cross-functional partners with questions and issues related to quality management criteria. Other duties Interface with Airbus Material Logistics and suppliers (Satair, Hamburg, Germany) to report, investigate and resolve material non-conformances and quality issues. Perform inspections at customer facilities and satellite locations. Interface with the SAP key user on electronic data processing functions and systems support for Quality Management operations. Licences & Qualifications Licence: an A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) licence or military maintenance certification, or the equivalent, is required. Experience Five or more years of maintenance experience and knowledge of aircraft operations, systems and practices. Familiarity with aerospace quality control and quality assurance systems. Aerospace design knowledge covering design techniques, tools and principles used in producing aerospace components, with the ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics and instructions for continued airworthiness. Quality management analysis experience conducting tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance. A team-working mindset. Requirements On-site presence 100% of the time. Vision sufficient to read computer screens, documents, reports and engineering drawings; hearing sufficient for conversations in person and by phone and to hear production floor alarms; and the ability to speak in conversations and meetings. Able to operate office and personal electronic equipment, and to carry, lift, push and pull documents, tools, drawings and equipment up to 30 lbs (14 kg). Able to sit for long periods, squat or kneel to reach low shelving, stand for discussions on the production floor, and walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Able to travel independently and at short notice. Personal protective equipment: includes, but is not limited to, safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators or masks and protective gloves as required by the site or customer site. For administrative work, steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, and appropriate hearing or eye protection may also be required. What We Offer Salary: 80,000.00 to 90,000.00 US dollars per year based on the required profile.
