About the Company Safair Operations, trading as FlySafair, is a South African airline operating a Boeing 737 fleet. Role Overview Safair Operations, trading as FlySafair, has a vacancy for a Certified Aviation Technician (Avionics) – Flight Line at its Johannesburg base. The successful applicant will report to the Crew Chief – Flight Line. Job reference: CERT_AV_JNB1. Permanent position, market-related salary, two positions available. Key Responsibilities Conduct line maintenance inspections and routine inspections of the aircraft's avionics systems Carry out fault finding and rectify defects accordingly Perform weekly service checks and thorough daily aircraft inspections to identify potential issues or defects Complete the maintenance tasks needed to ensure the airworthiness of the aircraft Adhere to established maintenance procedures and safety standards Record and sign off all activities as required by SACAA, ensuring all legal aspects are complied with Comply with health and safety requirements at all times to protect personnel and prevent fire, accidents and incidents Ensure the work area, equipment and tooling are properly maintained and safe before starting any job Apply analytical thinking and troubleshooting techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions Communicate clearly and professionally to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of maintenance tasks Licences & Qualifications Essential: Grade 12 or equivalent Essential: SACAA-recognised avionics-related Trade Test Certificate (for example Avionician, Aircraft Instrument Mechanic, Aircraft Electrician or Aircraft Radio Technician) Essential: Licensed AME with SACAA W1, W2 and W3 Essential: B737-800 system courses Advantageous: B737-8 (MAX) system course; oxygen course Experience Essential: minimum 5 years' aviation maintenance experience, including line and SVM experience Essential: previous experience as an Aviation Technician on B737-800 avionics systems Advantageous: previous experience as an Aviation Technician on B737-8 (MAX) avionics systems Advantageous: on-the-job training (OJT) experience Requirements Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays, including overtime when required Available and willing to travel locally or internationally at short notice Valid South African passport and driver's licence Sound understanding of technical aircraft publications and documentation (including the SWPM) Thorough understanding of aviation regulations and safety standards Good understanding of avionics schematic systems Excellent knowledge and troubleshooting experience on the B737-800 Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) What We Offer Permanent position with a market-related salary Two positions available Base: Johannesburg; department: SVM & Flight Line Personal attributes Analytical thinking, strong communication skills and excellent time-keeping Able to follow instructions as per work instructions; detail orientated Professional, high integrity, self-disciplined and ethical Reliable and dependable Additional Information Application guidance: email applications will not be accepted. Requirements
