About the Company Mesa Airlines is a United States regional air carrier operating under FAR Part 121 with a fleet that includes Bombardier CRJ700/900 and Embraer 170-190 series aircraft. Role Overview The Base Licensed A&P Inspector performs assigned inspection functions in accordance with the Company General Procedures Manual (GPM) and other Company manuals to ensure aircraft are inspected to the prescribed standard of airworthiness and serviceability. The role also provides day-to-day administration of the Mesa Airlines Safety Management System (SMS) programme for Technical Operations and serves as the focal point for coordinating and submitting process changes that drive a Safety Risk Assessment (SRA) requirement. Key Responsibilities Perform assigned inspection functions in line with the GPM and other Company manuals to confirm airworthiness and serviceability. Review Aircraft Maintenance Logs (AMLs) and Deferred Defect Logs (DDLs) for all pilot reports and deferred maintenance items to be corrected by maintenance staff. Audit AMLs before removal of the white copy. Review Non-Routine Job Cards (NRJCs) for deferred maintenance items to be corrected by maintenance staff. Certify aircraft airworthiness with regard to work performed by signing the aircraft airworthiness release in the AML. Record detected discrepancies on the appropriate worksheets. Serve as a participating member of the Maintenance Manual Review Board (MMRB). Review all documentation used for aircraft inspections to ensure entries are properly completed. Perform receiving inspections of materials and equipment in addition to routine inspection duties. Maintain, organise and retain records related to the SMS programme. Attend the weekly meeting to update management and the SMS team on current SRAs and associated changes. Ensure compliance with the Company General Procedures Manual, the Safety Program Manual and the Federal Aviation Regulations. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Quality Control. Licences & Qualifications Mechanic's Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings, held for at least three years. Must meet the requirements of 14 CFR Part 65.83. Experience At least one year of maintenance or inspection experience on different types of large aircraft with 10 or more passenger seats, with an air carrier or certified repair station. Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS), either through direct work experience or higher education. Experience analysing data to determine risk levels. Working knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations. Requirements Detail-oriented in gathering data for SRA submissions and keeping organised records. Team-oriented, able to work well with different levels of management and with the FAA. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Must be able to work different shifts. Role requires lifting, standing and bending for long periods. Must pass an initial drug screen and random drug screens. Must be available for occasional travel. Additional Information This position is based at El Paso (ELP).
