Role Overview An Avionics Technician is a specialised professional in the aviation maintenance field, responsible for inspecting, installing, testing, troubleshooting and repairing the electronic systems that support an aircraft's operation, communication, navigation and flight control. These systems include radar, GPS, autopilot, flight data recorders, weather radar, communication radios, transponders and electronic flight instrument displays. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair avionics components using test equipment and schematic diagrams, isolating malfunctions down to component level Install and calibrate communication, navigation and flight control systems Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and manufacturer specifications Perform software updates and configuration management on digital systems Collaborate with airframe and powerplant (A&P) technicians to integrate avionics with other aircraft systems Document maintenance actions, test results and part replacements in accordance with regulatory and company procedures Maintain up-to-date knowledge of avionics technologies and safety procedures Requirements Strong understanding of electronics, circuit theory and digital systems Proficiency with avionics test instruments, for example bonding and mega meters and multimeters Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams and schematics Attention to detail and adherence to safety and regulatory standards Strong mechanical competence; ability to work as a great teammate, giving and receiving support Willingness to work outdoors and handle weather extremes, and to do hands-on work High school diploma or GED / educational equivalent Valid US driver's licence and computer literacy Must pass a background check and drug screen upon contingent job offer Ability to access elevated aircraft areas via ladders, lift trucks, boom lifts and other devices Strength to lift 50 pounds, physical flexibility and the ability to work in confined spaces Legal authorisation to work in the United States without sponsorship Licences & Qualifications FAA A&P licence required FAA certification preferred: Repairman Certificate, or an Airframe/Powerplant licence with avionics specialisation What We Offer Starting rate for this role is $38.77 Great benefits with several plan options Flight privileges from day one: you and your family can fly anywhere in the world on stand-by At least two consecutive days off, plus vacation days earned based on length of service Initial training, specialty classes and recurrent training in technical areas and topics such as ethics and compliance Career progression into roles including management, inspection, quality control and fleet planning, and the opportunity to transfer to other network locations with seniority The opportunity to work on larger, highly sophisticated aircraft than at smaller regional airlines Additional Information This is a union position based on seniority, so you will be assigned an initial schedule designed to meet operational needs at the airport. You must be available for any shift within a 24/7 operation, including weekends and holidays, and may be required to work mandatory overtime. Punctuality and reliability are essential.

Requirements
