Role Overview Avionics Technician C (job code 39878), based on site in Tucson, AZ, on a 5/8 Monday-Friday schedule with the ability to work all shifts (first, second and third), reporting to the Lead Avionics Technician. The role covers aircraft avionics and electronics systems and components, electro/environmental systems and associated component repair and maintenance, including fault isolation, repair and the removal and replacement of components to resolve avionics or electrical discrepancies. It completes scheduled and unscheduled avionics maintenance on G550/EA-37B aircraft and supports the maintenance and repair of Mission Support Equipment as necessary. Key Responsibilities Test, inspect, repair, remove and replace avionics systems and components on the G550/EA-37B aircraft, and repair aircraft wiring and wiring harnesses Perform operational checkouts of aircraft avionics systems during pre-flight and post-flight as necessary Respond to flight and maintenance crew reported discrepancies by troubleshooting and repairing systems to make the aircraft ready for flight on a quick turnaround Assist in the launch, recovery, servicing and ground handling of aircraft Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections as required in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) procedures Prepare parts for turn-in back into the supply system and initiate material deficiency reports as required Maintain hand and special tools in a safe and serviceable condition, and follow site, customer and company tool accountability procedures including reporting unserviceable tools and equipment to the responsible party Perform serviceability checks before operating powered and non-powered support equipment Comply with all safety, environmental, security and housekeeping standards, policies and procedures Maintain the infrared detecting system, airborne video, laser system and night vision system Assist assigned personnel in researching and requisitioning aircraft parts and components and in determining their reparability and serviceability Assist in aircraft movement and flight line FOD prevention walks as required Operate GSE, flight line vehicles and other support equipment as authorised and required Licences & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, or a 2-year post-secondary/associate degree Ability to obtain and maintain, as a minimum, an interim secret DoD security clearance before hire Ability to obtain and maintain a government flight line driver's licence Valid driver's licence and valid US passport Must be a US citizen Preferred: active DoD security clearance Preferred: active Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) licence Preferred: completion of a military or civilian aviation avionics technical school, or an FCC licence with endorsements Experience High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 6 years of prior avionics-relevant experience, or a 2-year post-secondary/associate degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience Minimum 2 years of experience in the use of common hand and special tools and testers required to perform avionics maintenance tasks Minimum 2 years of experience reading and interpreting aircraft technical publications In-depth knowledge of flight line operations, including aircraft and vehicle movement and safety hazards In-depth knowledge of aircraft technical orders, job guides and publications, including the ability to read, interpret, follow and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts and technical publications Working knowledge of maintenance database technology, including inputting and extracting data Preferred: Gulfstream, Global Jet or business jet avionics maintenance experience Preferred: experience maintaining Honeywell Primus systems Preferred: experience in the repair and maintenance of radar, communications, nav-aids, lighting and instrumentation Preferred: ability to support the repair and maintenance of Mission Support ISR equipment as required Preferred: in-depth working knowledge of aircraft safety directives Requirements Ability to work day shift, night shift or weekend duty and to travel as part of a maintenance recovery team as required Ability to travel up to 40%; CONUS and OCONUS deployment may be required If scheduled to deploy OCONUS, must be in good physical condition and able to pass a required physical exam and CRC Ability to work in the established OCONUS work and living environment on a schedule of 7 days of 12-hour shifts as assigned to support mission requirements Willingness and ability to perform in-flight functional check flight (FCF) checks Ability to read, write, speak and understand English Preferred: a positive attitude, self-starter, works well with others Additional Information Physical requirements: The work is usually carried out in a flight-line environment with extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching and walking. It may require lifting or moving objects that normally will not exceed 50 lbs. Close and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus are required. Work environment: Working conditions both CONUS and OCONUS range from an environment with little or no physical discomfort to one where inclement weather may bring severe changes in temperature, wind and rain. Work may be required in areas with high noise hazards and exposure to fumes, airborne particles and electrical shock hazards. Requirements
