Role Overview As an Avionics Crew Chief you oversee daily crew operations, provide hands-on training and ensure all maintenance work meets the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance. You monitor progress, manage personnel performance, coordinate resources and act as a key link between technicians and leadership to keep projects on schedule. The Crew Chief is responsible to the Senior Crew Chief or Manager for the overall operation of the crew, with duties assigned or reassigned by them. When performing Crew Chief duties, the employee directly supervises the technicians on the assigned crew. Key Responsibilities Provide on-the-job training and technical assistance to personnel in your crew. Evaluate the performance of personnel on your crew and make recommendations as necessary to your supervisor. Perform only work authorised by your senior crew chief and ensure it is performed to the standards of good workmanship required by ST Aerospace Mobile, Inc. Ensure all tools and equipment used by your crew are kept in serviceable condition and stored in an orderly manner. Recommend to your supervisor any requirements or improvements for your crew. Exercise control over stock checked out of the stockroom by employees on your crew. Complete your crew's timecards and approve all hours worked. Report to your senior crew chief, with recommendations, on any personnel problems that cannot be resolved satisfactorily within the crew, and recommend disciplinary action where needed. Assist your senior crew chief, as requested, in evaluating non-routine work cards for parts, man-hours and span time, and indicate corrective action. Monitor work progress continuously and keep your supervisor apprised of status at all times, particularly on jobs that are off schedule. Assist your senior crew chief in preparing shift status and change-over reports. Perform any work assigned by your senior crew chief. Requirements Good working knowledge of all appropriate mechanical skill levels. Thorough understanding of all FARs and company policies and procedures. Thorough knowledge of all aircraft manuals and related materials. Knowledge of all maintenance and internal paperwork, including all personnel forms and documentation. A moderate level of interpersonal skill to maintain effective relationships with various departments, co-workers and management. Easy mobility around all sections of the facility and the dexterity to install various electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. Ability to distinguish colours to perform the work adequately, and ability to lift 50 lbs. Licences & Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Airframe licence and/or repairman certificate. Experience Four years of heavy commercial aircraft maintenance experience, including heavy maintenance work experience in the avionics field, required.
