Role Overview DHL has an opening for an Avionics Aircraft Mechanic at its Miami aviation station. The jobholder performs the various tasks required on an aircraft line, including repairs, and calibrates and adjusts all of the aircraft's radio and electrical systems. Problem solving: quickly identify issues in the aircraft's mechanical systems, requiring fast and proper actions and solutions to high quality standards. Decision making: make fast, effective decisions to ensure the aircraft's proper functioning and working condition. Planning and organising: organise technical paperwork, equipment, tooling, parts and material so a job is completed in the least possible time. Job challenge: accountability for the quality of work performed, ensuring assigned tasks are completed efficiently and safely. Key Responsibilities Follow instructions given by the supervisor or lead prior to aircraft arrivals during the shift. Review aircraft log entries with flight personnel on trip arrivals. Be familiar with FAA regulations (AAC Civil Aviation of Panama regulations optional) and with the procedures established in the General Maintenance Manual. Take responsibility for aircraft service checks and work with technical publications. Ensure all work assignments are completed on time and according to the applicable manufacturer's maintenance manual specifications. Perform daily tasks and assignments in accordance with FAA / AAC Civil Aviation of Panama regulations and the General Maintenance Manual. Ensure work is performed with a high degree of quality, safety and professionalism. Maintain work areas, vehicles and materials in clean and safe condition. Move and manipulate parts of various sizes and shapes using hand and repair tools, including small parts. Stand, stoop and manoeuvre in small or awkward places and positions to perform repair, maintenance, overhaul and inspection of assigned equipment, components and aircraft, and climb in and out of aircraft as required. Communicate promptly to superiors any problems encountered that may affect aircraft operation and the flight schedule. Travel as an on-board mechanic when required, or to recover company aircraft. Ensure any paperwork related to a maintenance action is completed properly and on time, and enter maintenance data into the records system (TRAX) accurately and promptly. Provide aircraft airworthiness releases and RII inspections when required. Become sufficiently familiar with the operation to act as supervisor if required. When authorised by the Senior Manager, Quality Control and Quality Assurance, inspect designated Required Inspection Items as outlined in the General Maintenance Manual, reporting to that manager when performing this duty. Possess aircraft line maintenance tools, and carry out other assigned duties as required. Avionics systems scope Inspect, test and repair aircraft electrical and avionics systems including communication, navigation, radar, flight control, lighting and power distribution. Diagnose malfunctions using wiring diagrams, schematics, test equipment and maintenance manuals. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all avionics systems. Remove and replace line replaceable units (LRUs). Assist in modifications and upgrades to aircraft avionics systems. Verify system performance using specialised tools such as break-out boxes, multimeters and built-in aircraft test equipment. Ensure strict compliance with safety and quality standards during all tasks. Coordinate with Maintenance Control and maintenance leads on system troubleshooting and repair solutions. Maintain and manage avionics-related tools and test equipment, and provide on-site avionics support during AOG events when required. Licences & Qualifications Current FAA A&P licence (required). FCC licence (desired). High school education required; associate degree desired. Knowledge of, or certificate training on, B767 / B757. Experience Minimum three years' experience as an avionics technician in commercial or cargo airlines. Proficiency in interpreting avionics and electrical wiring diagrams, wire identification, harness fabrication, cables, fittings, circuits and connectors. Able to work independently and under pressure. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Bilingual English / Spanish; required language is English. Travel less than 25%. Additional Information Work authorisation: DHL Express USA will only employ those who are legally authorised to work in the United States.
