Job Description

Role Overview Air India is recruiting Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, Senior Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and Duty Engineers at grade Associate Manager within the Engineering function. The advert states the location as PAN India. The role carries out inspection and certification of work connected with aircraft maintenance of instrument, electrical, radio communication / navigation, airframe and powerplant. The individual is responsible for the performance of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and shall ensure assigned aircraft are supported and maintained in an airworthy condition. Key Responsibilities Ensure all work performed in connection with maintenance, repair or overhaul is in accordance with the requirements and recommendations of the manufacturer and regulatory requirements. Take responsibility for all work carried out and certified on the aircraft within the scope of the authorisation privilege, and ensure all statutory regulations on airworthiness and company requirements are met. Ensure all work sheets, inspection schedules and maintenance records are properly completed, certified and preserved in accordance with civil airworthiness requirements. Ensure all delay reports and occurrence reports are prepared on time. Only AMEs or specially authorised persons make Technical Log entries and sign them as prescribed in the regulatory requirements. Ensure defects observed during inspection and those reported by flight crew in flight are rectified in an approved manner; bring major defects to the notice of postholders through the respective Maintenance Managers / LMM / BMM / SICs. Ensure inspection and all other work is carried out by approved methods using standard airworthiness practices and in compliance with DGCA rules and regulations. Ensure tools and equipment used during maintenance are serviceable and subject to periodic inspection and calibration where applicable, and report defective shop equipment or tools for rectification. Ensure only approved materials and parts are used at all stages of the work, and confirm all component interchangeability through IPC/IPD reference or other relevant approved documentation. Follow safety procedures when handling equipment and tools and servicing aircraft or components. Keep knowledge up to date on technical requirements and instructions issued by the Quality Department, Technical Services Department, aircraft or component manufacturers and airworthiness authorities. Supervise work performed by Senior Engineers, Engineers, technicians and other technical staff and ensure they observe standard airworthiness procedures and requirements. Exercise privileges per the scope of licence or approval, subject to validity, rating and current experience as stipulated in the relevant DGCA directives. Report all vehicle, ramp and aircraft unserviceability immediately to the Shift In-charge. Maintain a personal logbook detailing all maintenance activity carried out. Any other additional responsibility may be assigned from time to time as a standalone project or regular work, agreed between the incumbent, reporting officer and HR. Licences & Qualifications Minimum: 10+2 (PCM) or equivalent. Minimum: Ab-Initio AME training from a DGCA-approved institution. Minimum: must hold a CAR 66 Type Rating of Cat B1, B2 or C Licence on the Airbus and Boeing fleet in the company. Experience AME – minimum: 0–3 years of maintenance experience. Desired: 0–3 years of certifying experience on the Air India fleet. Senior AME – minimum: 3–6 years of maintenance experience. Desired: 3–6 years of certifying experience on the Air India fleet. Duty Engineer – minimum: 6+ years of maintenance experience. Desired: 6+ years of certifying experience on the Air India fleet. Additional Information Skills and qualities required: attention to detail, stakeholder management, planning and coordination skills, technical expertise in maintenance processes, awareness of compliance requirements and leadership skills. Key performance indicators: customer complaints; cabin defect rectifications and unserviceable seat release; adherence to regulatory, safety and quality compliance; personnel qualification, that is engineer's licence rating and current authorisation on fleet; number of defects; OTP and TDR management. Key interfaces: internally, engineering teams, responsible for analysing all technical delays in coordination with MCC and Technical Services, maintaining records and taking action for improvement; externally, DGCA representatives, coordinating on regulatory requirements.
