Role Overview As an Airframe Powerplant General (APG) Crew Chief you set the tone for quality, safety and efficiency in every job performed. Using deep knowledge of aircraft systems you guide, train and support your team through complex maintenance tasks on heavy commercial aircraft, from managing work progress and evaluating performance to ensuring tools are ready and standards are met — the critical link between leadership and line execution in a fast-paced MRO environment. The APG Crew Chief is responsible to the Senior Crew Chief or Manager for the overall operation of the crew, and duties are assigned or reassigned by the Senior Crew Chief or Manager. Key Responsibilities Provide on-the-job training and technical assistance to personnel on your crew. Evaluate the performance of personnel on your crew and make recommendations as necessary to their supervisor. Perform only work authorised by your senior crew chief and ensure it is performed to the standards of good workmanship required by Pensacola Aerospace. Ensure all tools and equipment used by your crew are kept in serviceable condition and stored in an orderly manner. Recommend to your supervisor any requirements or improvements for your crew. Exercise control over stock checked out of the stockroom by employees on your crew. Monitor crew time and ensure time has been approved by your manager. Report to your senior crew chief, with recommendations, on any personnel problems that cannot be resolved satisfactorily within the crew, and recommend disciplinary action where needed. Assist your senior crew chief, as requested, in evaluating non-routine work cards for parts, man-hours and span time, and indicate corrective action. Monitor work progress continuously and keep your senior crew chief apprised of status, particularly on jobs that are off schedule. Assist your senior crew chief in preparing shift status and change-over reports. Requirements A high level of interpersonal skill to maintain effective relationships with various departments, co-workers and management. Easy mobility around all sections of the facility and the dexterity to install various electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. Ability to distinguish colours to perform the work adequately. Ability to lift 50 lbs and to report to work regularly. Licences & Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Airframe & Powerplant licence required. Experience Four years of heavy commercial aircraft maintenance experience, including heavy maintenance work experience in the APG field, required.
