Job Description

About the Company Airbus Helicopters Canada Ltd (AHCA) is based in Fort Erie, Ontario, where it carries out aircraft completions, modifications and maintenance work on company and customer aircraft. Role Overview The Aircraft Structures AME is responsible for installing structural components and modifications, repairing and troubleshooting customer or company owned aircraft, and assisting with the manufacture of detailed parts when necessary. Key Responsibilities Aircraft completions Lead the installation of structural components and modifications to aircraft according to AHCA drawings, vendor drawings and STC kits. Manufacture components such as brackets and angles from engineering drawings when needed to support completion work. Complete composite modifications to aircraft components in addition to metallic modifications when required. Support Quality Assurance with inspections on new and used aircraft and components to determine compliance with the AMM and TCCA standards. Instruct and mentor the Aircraft Structures Apprentice. Use powered tools to rivet, cut, drill and install components directly onto the aircraft. Support the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with the initial aircraft teardown in preparation for modifications. Complete field service repairs on customer owned aircraft as required by AHCA. Assist the metallic manufacturing department in producing detailed aircraft parts when required. Support movement of the aircraft through the completions process using the aircraft dolly. Raise any problems or changes to drawings and installations with the department supervisor, Quality Assurance or Engineering. Work efficiently and safely using appropriate maintenance practices and standards, including aircraft maintenance manuals, Transport Canada regulations and AHCA standards. Production organisation Maintain correct daily time booking in SAP by scanning in and out of work orders. Complete work order sign-outs for all tasks in the work order book. Record all snags, defects and deficiencies found during aircraft assembly in the work order book. Ensure work packages, documentation, parts and work instructions are complete before production begins. Ensure the production bay is neat, organised and free from FOD before production begins. Complete the daily tool check on company issued tool boxes in line with internal FOD policies and procedures. Maintain cleanliness of the work area and hangar through end-of-day clean up, achieving 5S daily and verifying that all tooling is returned to the applicable shop toolboxes. Training and continual learning Maintain currency and update knowledge through self-study in addition to formal training. Stay current on changes to internal (AG) and external (TCCA) service bulletins and safety alerts. Requirements Eligible to enrol in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program through successful screening. Able to read and interpret technical drawings, instructions and manuals. Able to follow instructions and product quality standards and to report non-conformances and quality concerns. Follow company and industry safety regulations, offer solutions, report concerns and engage proactively in product and personal safety. Able to work within a team on day-to-day circumstances. Able to identify and solve common problems during the aircraft completion process. Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Strong troubleshooting skills and able to communicate issues and snags to the Lead Hand and Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. Licences & Qualifications Completion of a Transport Canada approved Aircraft Structures Maintenance programme. TCCA AME licence. Experience 3 years of experience as a licensed technician working in aircraft maintenance. Field experience maintaining Airbus products is considered an asset.
