Role Overview The Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician maintains, modifies, repairs and fabricates aircraft sheet metal components and complex structural assemblies at Contour's repair station, working to company policies, technical data and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Maintain, modify and install the various components of aircraft sheet metal. Repair, rework, install and fabricate complex aircraft structural assemblies, both internal and external. Lay out plans, fabrication and installation models for modifications. Perform checks and carry out inspections and removal of components. Study technical manuals, blueprints and engineering drawings. Provide assistance to aircraft maintenance technicians on various tasks. Remove and disassemble defective parts of the aircraft. Perform final checks on the assembly and installation of replaced parts. Maintain and keep track of all maintenance records. Adhere to company policies and safety programmes, maintain supplies and perform preventive maintenance. Assist in keeping the Repair Station facilities clean and orderly and ensure all shop equipment and tools are maintained in serviceable working condition. Other duties as assigned by management. Requirements Be at least 18 years of age. Be authorized to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the United States. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Must understand, read and write English; Spanish is a plus but not required. High school diploma or GED certification. Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Able to operate warehouse machinery and equipment. Able to pass a required 10-year work history review and submit to criminal background and fingerprint checks. Able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug screening and submit to random DOT drug and/or alcohol testing. Able to work nights, weekends, holidays and varying schedules. This vacancy is a night shift position working between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM. Polished and professional interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and a customer-oriented mindset. Able to work in a safe, professional manner adhering to OSHA, EPA, state and federal regulations. Physical Requirements Frequent stooping, bending and kneeling. Ability to stand for extended periods. Lift and carry objects up to 70 pounds regularly and 100+ pounds occasionally (with assistance). Ability to climb stairs, scaffolding and ladders of varying heights without assistance. Ability to work in cramped spaces and awkward positions as required. Tolerance to noise, vibration and outdoor weather conditions. Ability to wear protective gear such as gloves, safety glasses and hearing protection. Work Environment Airport ramp/warehouse environment subject to varying weather conditions. Regular exposure to aircraft noise and vibration when testing engines. Fast-paced operational setting requiring attention to safety, accuracy and timeliness. Licences & Qualifications FAA Airframe & Powerplant licence, or adequate work experience for FAA authorization for a Repairman Certificate, is required. Experience Two (2) or more years of prior experience is preferred. Paid sick leave: accrual of up to 56 hours per year; unused sick leave rolls over annually until the sick bank reaches 480 hours. Vested vacation hours: granted on 1 January following the hire date and available for use in line with company policy. Travel privileges: non-revenue/space available (NRSA) travel on Contour from hire, plus access to MyID Travel after 6 months of active service. Leaves of absence: medical leave, non-medical family care leave, maternity and paternity leave and personal leave, as set out in the Employee Handbook. The starting hourly rate for this position is between $26.00 and $36.00 based on prior work experience. Work on a Contour observed holiday is paid at 2 times the hourly rate; the observed holiday policy is set out in the Employee Handbook provided during onboarding. Hours worked in excess of 40 within the pay period are paid as overtime at 1.5 times the hourly rate.
