Role Overview As a certified mechanical technician holding a valid M2 licence (or working towards one), you will carry out the maintenance and repair of aircraft and their components. You will work on experimental B747SP aircraft, the only ones of their kind in the world, specially modified for their flight-test mission. You will join a department celebrating its 65th anniversary since P&WC's first test flight, now recognised as the sole flight-test centre for the whole of Pratt & Whitney. You will rectify mechanical, electrical and avionics defects reported by pilots or team members, diagnose problems and carry out troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of mechanical components. You will also be called on to install test engines and support ground runs. Location: this position is based in Mirabel, Quebec. Key Responsibilities Aircraft maintenance Perform periodic checks of mechanical systems to return aircraft to service, and carry out the required repairs. Identify and report damage, wear and unacceptable conditions, and carry out repairs in line with applicable standards. Perform servicing operations such as filling fuel, oil, nitrogen and oxygen tanks, among others. Carry out ground runs of non-experimental engines. Maintain the aircraft interior and exterior as well as on-board systems. Install and remove experimental engines using complex automated tooling. Compliance Work from continuing airworthiness manuals, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) documents, engineering instructions, drawings, sketches, and written or verbal instructions. Verify and confirm that work carried out on the aircraft meets applicable norms, rules and standards. Maintain the documentation and technical manuals for the aircraft and their installations. Keep appropriate records of the various parameters in order to establish efficient operations with statistical process control. Related tasks Perform and/or supervise ground movements of aircraft. Service equipment. Assist aircraft avionics staff in carrying out avionics work. Work on several projects at the same time when required. Requirements College diploma (DEC) in aircraft maintenance techniques. This position is part of a French-speaking work environment; nonetheless it requires functional knowledge of English to read and understand specialised instructions, plans, drawings and technical terms that may come from international organisations, and to write and occasionally communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues. Licences & Qualifications Valid category M2 aircraft maintenance licence, or in the process of obtaining one. Experience Asset: knowledge of B747 systems or other Boeing aircraft.
