Role Overview The Aircraft Maintenance Technician performs scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, repairs and alterations on aircraft, engines, power plants and components at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, North Carolina, working to FAA, manufacturer and company standards. Location: Contour CLT - Charlotte, North Carolina Position type: Full time Shift: Any Pay range: $35.00 - $44.00 per hour Key Responsibilities Read and use blueprints, maintenance manuals, ATA codes, illustrated parts catalogues, service bulletins and other maintenance documents to troubleshoot and complete work assignments Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, repairs and alterations of aircraft, including engines, power plants and components, in accordance with FAA, manufacturer and company standards Conduct detailed inspections of aircraft systems such as hydraulic systems, de-icing and landing gear for leaks, cracks, distortion, foreign object damage and other irregularities Perform inspections during assembly of parts and after repairs or component installations Accurately document maintenance procedures, discrepancies and corrective actions in maintenance logs and records, meeting FAA and company documentation requirements Run diagnostic tests, interpret the results and implement corrective actions as necessary Safely operate power and hand tools such as cranes, grinders, wrenches and torque tools Ensure USCIS, DOT and FAA compliance when completing required inspections and authorisations Communicate effectively with other technicians, supervisors, pilots and operational staff to ensure the safe and timely return of aircraft to service Promote safety in the workplace by adhering to all safety standards and reporting potential hazards Perform other duties as assigned by leadership Requirements Must be at least 23 years of age Ability to read and interpret FAA regulations, technical manuals and maintenance documentation in English Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently; proficiency in Spanish is a plus but not required High school diploma or GED certification preferred Strong organisational and troubleshooting skills Must be legally authorised to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the country without restrictions Valid driver's licence with a good driving record Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Office 365, Excel, Outlook and Word, or similar applications Polished and professional interpersonal skills with a positive, customer-focused attitude Strong leadership, organisational and time management skills Ability to interact effectively with a variety of personalities while maintaining a high level of professionalism Skilled at coordinating multiple priorities, managing deadlines and working efficiently in a fast-paced environment Ability to handle interruptions and changing priorities with flexibility and strong attention to detail Self-motivated, with the ability to motivate others Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills, delivered with professionalism and tact Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and irregular shifts as operational needs dictate Must adhere to all safety regulations and comply with OSHA, EPA, state and federal regulatory requirements Must pass a DOT-required pre-employment drug screening and be willing to submit to and pass FAA and company-mandated random drug and alcohol testing Ability to pass a 10-year work history background check, as well as criminal history and fingerprint checks as required by the TSA Physical requirements Frequent stooping, bending and kneeling Ability to stand for extended periods Lift and carry objects up to 70 pounds regularly and up to 100+ pounds occasionally, with assistance Ability to climb stairs, scaffolding and ladders of varying heights without assistance Ability to work in cramped spaces and awkward positions as required Tolerance of noise, vibration and outdoor weather conditions Ability to wear protective gear such as gloves, safety glasses and hearing protection Work environment Airport ramp and warehouse environment subject to varying weather conditions Regular exposure to aircraft noise and vibration when testing engines Fast-paced operational setting requiring attention to safety, accuracy and timeliness Licences & Qualifications Certification: FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification Experience Minimum 2 years of aircraft maintenance experience (commercial, regional or equivalent military experience accepted) A minimum of nine months of prior airline or aviation industry experience is preferred What We Offer Compensation Starting hourly rate of $35.00 to $44.00 depending on prior work experience Holiday pay at twice the hourly rate for work on a Contour observed holiday Overtime at 1.5 times the hourly rate for hours worked above 40 in the pay period Insurance Health, vision and dental insurance, plus short and long-term disability and voluntary life insurance, effective the first day of the month following the hire date 401(k) savings plan Eligibility begins the first day of the month following the hire date Company matching contribution of up to 6% of eligible compensation Enrollment guidelines and a 401(k) enrollment guide are provided during onboarding Paid leave and travel Accrual of up to 56 hours of paid sick leave per year, rolling over annually until the sick bank reaches 480 hours Vested vacation hours, granted on 1 January following the hire date and available in line with company policy Non-revenue/space-available (NRSA) travel privileges on Contour from hire, with access to MyID Travel after six months of active service Eligibility for medical leave, non-medical family care leave, maternity and paternity leave and personal leave, as set out in the Contour Employee Handbook Additional Information Shift: any.
