Aircraft Maintenance Technician

Role Overview The Aircraft Maintenance Technician is responsible for routine and non-routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting and repairs on the Contour Airlines fleet, in accordance with FAA regulations, manufacturer guidelines and company policies. The position requires strong attention to detail, technical expertise and a commitment to safety and compliance. The successful candidate will be able to read and interpret maintenance manuals, complete the required documentation and communicate effectively with team members, vendors and regulatory agencies. Key Responsibilities Read and use blueprints, maintenance manuals, ATA codes, illustrated parts catalogues, service bulletins and other maintenance documents to troubleshoot and complete work assignments. Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, maintenance, repairs and alterations of aircraft, including engines, power plants and components, to FAA, manufacturer and company standards. Conduct detailed inspections of aircraft systems (hydraulics, de-icing, landing gear and others) for leaks, cracks, distortion, foreign object damage and other irregularities. Perform inspections during the assembly of parts and after repairs or component installations. Accurately document maintenance procedures, discrepancies and corrective actions in maintenance logs and records, in compliance with FAA and company requirements. Run diagnostic tests, interpret the results and implement corrective actions as necessary. Safely operate power and hand tools such as cranes, grinders, wrenches and torque tools. Ensure USCIS, DOT and FAA compliance when completing required inspections and authorizations. Communicate effectively with other technicians, supervisors, pilots and operational staff to ensure the safe and timely return of aircraft to service. Promote safety in the workplace by adhering to all safety standards and reporting potential hazards. Perform other duties as assigned by leadership. Requirements Must be at least 23 years of age. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the country without restrictions. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently; proficiency in Spanish is a plus but not required. High school diploma or GED certification preferred. Basic proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Office 365, Excel, Outlook, Word) or similar applications. Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills, with polished, professional interpersonal skills and a positive, customer-focused attitude. Strong leadership and time management skills; able to coordinate multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to handle interruptions and changing priorities with flexibility and strong attention to detail. Self-motivated, able to motivate others, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, delivered with professionalism and tact. Must pass a DOT-required pre-employment drug screening and submit to and pass FAA and company-mandated random drug and alcohol testing. Must pass a 10-year work history background check as well as criminal history and fingerprint checks required by the TSA. Ability to work flexible schedules including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and irregular shifts as operational needs dictate. Must work in a safe, professional manner, complying with OSHA, EPA, state and federal regulatory requirements. Physical Requirements Frequent stooping, bending and kneeling. Ability to stand for extended periods. Lift and carry objects up to 70 pounds regularly and 100+ pounds occasionally (with assistance). Ability to climb stairs, scaffolding and ladders of varying heights without assistance. Ability to work in cramped spaces and awkward positions as required. Tolerance to noise, vibration and outdoor weather conditions. Ability to wear protective gear such as gloves, safety glasses and hearing protection. Work Environment Airport ramp/warehouse environment subject to varying weather conditions. Regular exposure to aircraft noise and vibration when testing engines. Fast-paced operational setting requiring attention to safety, accuracy and timeliness. Licences & Qualifications FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification. Ability to read and interpret FAA regulations, technical manuals and maintenance documentation in English. Experience Minimum of 2 years' aircraft maintenance experience (commercial, regional or equivalent military experience accepted). A minimum of nine (9) months of prior airline or aviation industry experience is preferred. Vested vacation hours: granted on 1 January following the hire date and available for use in line with company policy. Travel privileges: non-revenue/space available (NRSA) travel on Contour from hire, plus access to MyID Travel after 6 months of active service. Leaves of absence: medical leave, non-medical family care leave, maternity and paternity leave and personal leave, as set out in the Employee Handbook. The starting hourly rate for this position is between $35.00 and $44.00 based on prior work experience. Work on a Contour observed holiday is paid at 2 times the hourly rate; the observed holiday policy is set out in the Employee Handbook provided during onboarding. Hours worked in excess of 40 within the pay period are paid as overtime at 1.5 times the hourly rate.
