Job Description

About the Company Airbus Helicopters Canada Ltd (AHCA) is based in Fort Erie, Ontario, where it completes, modifies, tests and maintains company and customer owned helicopters. Role Overview The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer is responsible for assembling aircraft and the mechanical aspects of option installations, conducting ground or flight tests, inspecting and maintaining company or customer owned aircraft, and following appropriate maintenance practices in compliance with all Transport Canada and AHCA standards. Key Responsibilities Aircraft completions Install AHCA options and external vendor STC kits using work orders, instructions and drawings to ensure correct assembly. Use the maintenance manual to ensure work is completed in accordance with internal standards. Disassemble the aircraft to prepare it for painting. Perform visual inspections for component defects, document and investigate root causes and complete corrective actions or recommendations. Perform and oversee functional checks required for flight, such as fuel system, engine and fluids, ensuring documentation is accurate and complete. Prep, clean and polish the aircraft once all testing is complete in preparation for delivery to the customer. Record and rectify snags found during the aircraft assembly process. Communicate all component and part shortages omitted from the work package to the Lead Hand and Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. Instruct and mentor the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Apprentice and act as team lead for an aircraft completion when assigned. Support Quality Assurance with inspections on new and used aircraft and components to determine compliance with the AMM and TCCA standards. Ensure safe transport of the aircraft through the completions process using the aircraft dolly. Inspect components and aircraft for defects, deficiencies and airworthiness for aircraft requiring maintenance, such as 12-year inspections. Ensure correct time booking and complete work order sign-outs for all work completed by yourself and other technicians. Ensure work packages, documentation, parts and work instructions are complete before production begins. Ensure the production bay is neat, organised and free from FOD before production begins. Complete the daily tool check on company issued tool boxes in line with internal FOD policies and procedures. Maintain cleanliness of the work area and hangar through end-of-day clean up, achieving 5S daily and verifying that all tooling is returned to the applicable shop toolboxes. Work efficiently and safely using appropriate maintenance practices and standards, including aircraft maintenance manuals, Transport Canada regulations and AHCA standards. Aircraft testing Carry out post-maintenance ground runs and test flights including rotor track and balance. Perform weight and balance testing before ground runs and confirm the aircraft is airworthy. Return aircraft to service by completing track and balance tests alongside the flight crew. Verify engine and aircraft operating parameters are within the specified range. Verify correct operation of all installed equipment for aircraft delivery. Ensure flight test documents are completed accurately and within the ranges detailed in the manuals. Record snags and troubleshoot issues or deficiencies found during testing, and communicate them to the aircraft QA team. Training and continual learning Maintain currency and update knowledge through self-study in addition to formal training. Participate in and complete recurrent aircraft type training at AHCA request. Stay current on changes to internal (AG) and external (TCCA) service bulletins and safety alerts. Requirements Eligible to enrol in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program through successful screening. Able to read and interpret technical drawings, instructions and manuals. Able to follow instructions and product quality standards and to report non-conformances and quality concerns. Follow company and industry safety regulations, offer solutions, report concerns and engage proactively in product and personal safety. Able to work within and lead a team on day-to-day circumstances. Able to identify and solve common problems during the aircraft completion process. Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Strong troubleshooting skills and able to rectify and communicate issues and snags to the Lead Hand and Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. Licences & Qualifications Completion of a Transport Canada approved Aircraft Maintenance programme. TCCA AME licence. Experience 3 years of experience as a licensed technician working in aircraft maintenance. Field experience maintaining Airbus products is considered an asset. Experience in aircraft operational maintenance is considered an asset. What We Offer Contract: permanent with Airbus Helicopters Canada Ltd, professional experience level.
