Role Overview The Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief is responsible for the performance, productivity and efficiency of an assigned maintenance crew at Contour's Smyrna, Tennessee facility, supervising personnel, performing advanced troubleshooting and repairs, and keeping aircraft on schedule. Location: Contour Maintenance MQY - Smyrna, Tennessee Position type: Full time Shift: Any Pay range: $35.00 - $44.00 per hour Key Responsibilities Take responsibility for overall crew performance, productivity and efficiency Supervise and direct assigned maintenance personnel so that maintenance procedures are completed safely, on time and to a high quality Perform advanced-level troubleshooting and repairs Implement the maintenance standards, methods and procedures used by Contour to ensure compliance with the RSM, operations specifications, Federal Aviation Regulations and manufacturers' recommendations Ensure subordinate maintenance personnel are qualified for the procedures assigned and use the appropriate technical documentation Monitor safe work practices, environmental compliance and proper housekeeping Keep aircraft on schedule and notify the supervisor, programme or project manager if issues arise Establish crew start and stop times to maintain delivery schedules Approve overtime where necessary and approve paid time off requests for the assigned crew per company policy Provide continuity of maintenance across shift or work assignment changes in line with established procedures Ensure maintenance logs for work in progress, completed or carried over are properly completed, along with other required forms and records Ensure tools, support equipment and facilities are inspected and kept clean and serviceable, and request ground support equipment and tooling when needed Assist with or provide quarterly and annual performance reviews of assigned personnel Recommend changes to crew staffing levels and skill set requirements, and recommend technical training courses for team members Coordinate and schedule the expertise needed from other departments to complete work projects and packages Work with outside vendors, internal project management and other technicians to troubleshoot and resolve production-related matters Participate and communicate well in customer debrief meetings as requested Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by leadership Requirements Must be at least 23 years of age Ability to read and interpret FAA regulations, technical manuals and maintenance documentation in English Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently; proficiency in Spanish is a plus but not required High school diploma or GED certification preferred Strong organisational and troubleshooting skills Must be legally authorised to work in the United States and able to travel in and out of the country without restrictions Valid driver's licence with a good driving record Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Office 365, Excel, Outlook and Word, or similar applications Polished and professional interpersonal skills with a positive, customer-focused attitude Strong leadership, organisational and time management skills Ability to interact effectively with a variety of personalities while maintaining a high level of professionalism Skilled at coordinating multiple priorities, managing deadlines and working efficiently in a fast-paced environment Ability to handle interruptions and changing priorities with flexibility and strong attention to detail Self-motivated, with the ability to motivate others Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills, delivered with professionalism and tact Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and irregular shifts as operational needs dictate Must adhere to all safety regulations and comply with OSHA, EPA, state and federal regulatory requirements Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute Must pass a DOT-required pre-employment drug screening and be willing to submit to and pass FAA and company-mandated random drug and alcohol testing Ability to pass a 10-year work history background check, as well as criminal history and fingerprint checks as required by the TSA Physical requirements Frequent stooping, bending and kneeling Ability to stand for extended periods Lift and carry objects up to 70 pounds regularly and up to 100+ pounds occasionally, with assistance Ability to climb stairs, scaffolding and ladders of varying heights without assistance Ability to work in cramped spaces and awkward positions as required Tolerance of noise, vibration and outdoor weather conditions Ability to wear protective gear such as gloves, safety glasses and hearing protection Work environment Airport ramp and warehouse environment subject to varying weather conditions Regular exposure to aircraft noise and vibration when testing engines Fast-paced operational setting requiring attention to safety, accuracy and timeliness Licences & Qualifications Certification: FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification Experience Minimum 2 years of aircraft maintenance experience (commercial, regional or equivalent military experience accepted) A minimum of nine months of prior airline or aviation industry experience is preferred Detailed working knowledge of Quantum or a similar work order control system is desired What We Offer Compensation Starting hourly rate of $35.00 to $44.00 depending on prior work experience Performance-based step increase of $1.00 per year on the pay anniversary date, up to $49.00 per hour Once at the maximum pay rate, eligibility for a retention bonus of up to $2,000.00 per year Holiday pay at twice the hourly rate for work on a Contour observed holiday Overtime at 1.5 times the hourly rate for hours worked above 40 in the pay period Insurance Health, vision and dental insurance, plus short and long-term disability and voluntary life insurance, effective the first day of the month following the hire date 401(k) savings plan Eligibility begins the first day of the month following the hire date Company matching contribution of up to 6% of eligible compensation Enrollment guidelines and a 401(k) enrollment guide are provided during onboarding Paid leave and travel Accrual of up to 56 hours of paid sick leave per year, rolling over annually until the sick bank reaches 480 hours Vested vacation hours, granted on 1 January following the hire date and available in line with company policy Non-revenue/space-available (NRSA) travel privileges on Contour from hire, with access to MyID Travel after six months of active service Eligibility for medical leave, non-medical family care leave, maternity and paternity leave and personal leave, as set out in the Contour Employee Handbook Additional Information Shift: any.
