Role Overview The Aircraft Maintenance Controller coordinates maintenance discrepancies and corrections on all operational aircraft and monitors mechanical problems at all line stations. The position reports to the Manager, Aircraft Maintenance Control. Key Responsibilities Coordinate maintenance discrepancies and corrections on all operational aircraft Monitor all line station mechanical problems Reduce and hold maintenance recovery time to a minimum Monitor aircraft availability Coordinate equipment changes with Maintenance and Dispatch Provide technical assistance to all maintenance personnel Execute the Minimum Equipment List / Configuration Deviation List (MEL/CDL) programme Coordinate parts and staffing requirements for mechanical interruptions, engine changes and field repairs Monitor field repairs and coordinate the return of work crews to their home base Coordinate with Dispatch and Maintenance Planning on MEL/CDL procedures as set out in company manuals Arrange charter aircraft to dispatch parts and/or maintenance technicians to outstations Notify the Inspection department of reportable incidents involving any company-operated aircraft Coordinate the checking of engine oil quantities and record the results Requirements Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Good communication skills Good working knowledge of aircraft systems and of flight operations Understanding of aircraft computerised maintenance record-keeping systems Knowledge of the relevant parts of the Maintenance Policies and Procedures Manual, including the applicable provisions of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) A positive attitude towards productivity, quality and safety Proof of high school completion or GED; minimum 18 years of age Licences & Qualifications Required: current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification, plus company-issued licences Experience Required: one (1) year of experience as a certified mechanic Preferred: experience maintaining aircraft of the type operated by the company What We Offer Starting rate of $34.13 per hour Bonuses awarded in accordance with company policies and applicable criteria Paid training and holiday pay 401(k) and vacation Family travel on the American Airlines network Medical and dental cover available Additional Information Work environment: standard office environment with computers and other office equipment, plus airport ramp and warehouse areas subject to varied weather and elevated noise levels. Availability for any shift, including nights, weekends and holidays, is required. Physical requirements: frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, walking, standing, reaching, lifting and climbing stairs; handling objects up to 70 pounds regularly and up to 100+ pounds occasionally with help from colleagues or tools. Requirements
