Job Description

Role Overview The Apprentice progresses through work processes and related training as required by the USDOL Standards of Apprenticeship Program and 14 CFR Part 65.77. The role sits in the Apprentice Program and reports to the Apprentice Lead or Supervisor. Applications are now being accepted for 2026. Key Responsibilities Assist licensed mechanics with inspections, documenting inspections and repairs, performing scheduled maintenance and running tests after repairs or maintenance. Maintain records of work experience and training received on the job and in related instruction as required. Develop and practise safe working habits, ensuring personal safety and that of fellow workers. Read and interpret maintenance instructions such as AMMs, SRMs, WDMs, IPCs, EAs and routine task cards. Assist licensed mechanics in troubleshooting and repairing discrepancies, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with approved maintenance data. Ensure all work is performed and documented in accordance with Kalitta Air and FAA requirements. Ensure discrepancies identified during a maintenance task are documented. Follow all Kalitta Air and FAA policies and procedures and the Standards of Apprenticeship. Follow all Kalitta Air safety rules and bring any identified safety-related deficiencies to the company's attention. Keep a neat and clean work area at all times. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Apprentice Lead or Supervisor. Requirements Must be a high school graduate. Language: good oral communication and comprehension skills, and the ability to read and write. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily; the requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required. Must be authorized to work in the United States. DOT drug test required. Additional Information Physical Demands The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and frequently uses a computer terminal, telephone and 10-key calculator. The employee is required to stand, walk and climb or descend stairs, and occasionally to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Work Environment Duties are performed in multiple settings, including a maintenance workshop, hangar maintenance, outdoor and classroom environments.
