Role Overview The Aircraft Inspector reports to the Lead Inspector and performs preliminary and buy-back inspections on aircraft undergoing maintenance and alteration. This is a role for a detail-obsessed aviation professional whose technical expertise directly affects aircraft airworthiness and operational readiness. Key Responsibilities Review incoming aircraft flight logs for items of work required at the Repair Station. Procure required forms and work orders and transfer the work to be accomplished onto the forms. Perform required aircraft inspections and buy-backs on work performed. Check for conformance to specifications per repair instructions or other relevant manuals or applicable FAA-approved engineering instructions. Assist with or perform aircraft weighing and computations. Work away from home base. Assist with documentation per the Code of Federal Regulations and customer processes (FAA Form 337, 8130-3, 8130-9), SDR reporting, and AD verification and accomplishment. Review documentation after completion of a maintenance visit and comply with verification sign-off. Perform aircraft return to service. Successfully complete any required training course. Perform inspection in confined-space conditions and environments. Requirements Must be able to read, write and speak English. Familiarity with basic inspection methods and techniques. Ability to perform preliminary aircraft inspections and quality oversight under general and written direction. Ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogues, structural repair manuals, wiring diagrams, blueprints, work card instructions, Airworthiness Directives and other documents associated with aircraft maintenance. Mental skills and quickness, with the ability to cope with stress and intense effort or exertion usually caused by long working hours. A strong level of interpersonal skill to maintain effective relationships with various departments, inspectors, co-workers, supervision and the customer. Licences & Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. FAA A&P Licence required. Recorded training on at least two aircraft types. Experience Minimum five years' experience on heavy commercial aircraft, or equivalent military experience on heavy aircraft. One year of previous quality control experience preferred. Industrial environment requiring the inspector to use man lifts, scissor lifts and various types of ladders, with easy mobility around various sections of the aircraft. The working environment requires standing 90% of the workday on hard surfaces, the ability to lift 50 lbs and regular attendance.
