Role Overview As an Aircraft Inspector at MoD Boscombe Down, near Salisbury, Wiltshire, you will play a key role in supporting aircraft engineering, flight-line operations, scheduled servicing and maintenance activities across the aircraft fleet. Working alongside Licensed Aircraft Engineers and technical teams, you will help ensure aircraft are maintained to the highest standards of safety, quality and airworthiness. This is an opportunity to work within a dynamic aviation environment, supporting critical flying operations while developing expertise across aircraft maintenance, inspection and ground operations. Role type: full-time, permanent, based on site at MoD Boscombe Down. Working hours are 40 per week across a four-day, ten-hour shift pattern. Compensation: £36,604.77 plus benefits. Key Responsibilities Carry out scheduled and corrective maintenance activities across the aircraft fleet. Support aircraft handling, flight-line operations and daily aircraft preparation activities. Complete aircraft and equipment maintenance documentation in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements. Conduct pre-use checks and scheduled maintenance of ground support equipment. Provide technical support across other sites and participate in operational detachments when required. Requirements Strong stakeholder engagement and customer-facing skills. Good IT literacy and experience maintaining technical records. Demonstrable practical and theoretical aircraft engineering knowledge. Ability to achieve and maintain Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) / Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance. Many positions are subject to national security clearance and trade control restrictions, so eligibility may be affected by place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship and residency held. Licences & Qualifications Recognised aircraft apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or an equivalent qualification in an aerospace discipline. Full UK driving licence. Experience Experience preparing aircraft for flight operations, including aircraft marshalling and fuel and oil replenishment. Experience working within a military or civilian Part 145 maintenance environment. Military or civilian aircraft engineering experience. Leadership, mentoring or supervisory experience.
