ABX Aircraft Technician (Casual)

About the Company ABX Air is a US cargo airline operating Boeing freighter aircraft under FAA regulations. Role Overview The AC Tech (Line Maintenance) performs preventive maintenance, repairs, modifications and other line maintenance on ABX aircraft, components and related equipment in accordance with the applicable manuals, procedures and FAA regulations. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, modifications and other line maintenance on aircraft, components and related equipment in accordance with specified manuals, procedures and FAA regulations. Communicate with all departments within the company. Travel for station coverage, training and other maintenance support. Work outside in all types of weather and be on call as needed. Assist Airport Planning/Properties with property and environmental issues. Maintain station manuals, parts and tooling inventory. Carry out aircraft de-icing, snow removal, GSE maintenance and MXI work as needed. Travel regionally to verify that stations will pass FAA and QA audits. Travel regionally to train new team members on paperwork, MXI, manuals and similar topics. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Education: high school diploma or GED. Licence: A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) licence. Valid driver's licence and the ability to pass an MVR (motor vehicle record) background check. Two years of experience in all phases of commercial transport aircraft. Ability to independently troubleshoot aircraft systems. Aircraft systems and technical knowledge, concentrating on the aircraft type at the station applied for. Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and evaluate structural damage. Ability to work unsupervised. Good interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication. Self-motivation, integrity, cooperation, professionalism and leadership. Ability to travel on company aircraft as required. Ability to obtain a SIDA badge (federally required background check for access to airports, aircraft and air cargo). Physical Requirements Ability to stoop, bend and manipulate tools in small spaces. Work in adverse and outdoor conditions. Wear a respirator and safety protective equipment as indicated. Lift objects weighing various amounts up to 75 lbs. Perform work at heights of up to 60 ft. Experience Preferred: four years of experience in all phases of commercial transport aircraft. Preferred: two years of hands-on line maintenance experience on an aircraft type operated by ABX. Preferred: 757/767 experience. Additional Information This is a casual (as-needed) position based at Portland (PDX).
