Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, it produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019, as part of Airbus' strategy to meet growing customer needs in the United States and beyond. Role Overview Airbus Americas, Inc. is looking for an A320 Flightline Quality Avionic Inspector working rotating shifts in Mobile, Alabama. You are responsible for planning, executing and verifying quality activities in the flightline phase, from the FOT milestone in the Final Assembly Line to final delivery to the customer. This includes demonstrating aircraft system integrity and conformity with design specifications and verifying Ground Test Instructions (GTI). Meet the Team Engineers at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facility take aircraft from concept to customer delivery, working with production teams on every aspect of assembly from managing technical information to quality control, maintenance tasks and health and safety, along the flowlines and flightlines. Key Responsibilities Flightline Quality Avionic Inspector (L3) - 50% Release the aircraft for all ground and flight operations, covering engine run-up inspections and pre- and post-flight checks under EASA Part 21G and, after the transfer of title, under FAA 14 CFR Part 145. Conduct comprehensive aircraft testing, evaluate results and document tests and discrepancies in the Airbus Log Book (ALB). Execute quality inspections of standard and non-standard aircraft production and maintenance activities, including all associated documentation. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for aircraft avionic systems. Contribute to continuous improvement and act as liaison for resolving technical issues with engineering, customers and suppliers. Ensure and certify aircraft conformity, holding final signature authorisation as a Quality Inspector. FAL Ground Test Engineer (FAL-GTE) - 40% Under delegation from the Flight Test Department (IVR), conduct aircraft ground checks after the FOT milestone and prepare the aircraft and test environment for system-wide ground tests. Document non-conformities in the Airbus Log Book and initiate a Repeat Test Instruction (RTI) once rework is complete. Execute all required ground checks (static system tests, APU run, low and high power engine runs, low speed taxi and compass swing) strictly in accordance with the Production Aircraft Test Manual (PATM). This qualification requires extensive training and starts after the Inspector qualification has been achieved. FAA Part 145 Repair Station Inspector - 5% Conduct aircraft testing and evaluate and document test results and discrepancies in the Part 145 work package. Assist with and carry out troubleshooting on aircraft avionic systems. Manage the Part 145 work package and issue the official Release to Service (RTS). Other duties as assigned make up the remaining 5%. Licences & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Licence: FAA-issued A&P or EASA Part-66 licence, needed for FAA 14 CFR Part 145 activities after transfer of title, or a substantial portfolio of documented aircraft maintenance and quality inspection experience covering airframe and powerplant. Preferred: Airbus A320 T1 and T2 training. Experience 3 years of quality inspection experience, preferably on A320 Family aircraft in an aviation company. Experience troubleshooting avionic, airframe and powerplant systems. Proven experience performing Ground Test Instructions on avionic, airframe and powerplant systems (basic aircraft). Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans and inspection processes; of inspection principles, practices, methods and production line tools; of the rules for aircraft design and manufacturing; and extensive knowledge of A320 Family avionic systems. Flightline experience and leadership experience preferred. Requirements Eligible for employment in the US without sponsorship. Clear and precise English communication skills, able to give direction. Travel of around 10% domestically and internationally, sometimes for extended periods. A mix of office time and outdoor activity; able to support a two-shift system and occasional weekends, with willingness to stay on second shift once qualified preferred. Vision adequate to read electronic and paper material, aircraft gauges, airport signage and safety labels; hearing sufficient for conversation and for safety alerts; able to communicate clearly in English to groups of varying size. Able to operate powered industrial equipment, work on fuselage access jigs at a height of 15 feet and on hydraulic lifts at heights up to 40 feet. Able to occasionally lift and carry up to 55 lbs / 25 kg, push and pull items, and sit and stand for extended periods. Able to work on or in the wing or centre wing box in a confined space, entering through a 9.8 inch by 17.7 inch oval opening, and to squat or kneel occasionally. Able to walk through office and production areas, the flightline, hangars and ramp, including uneven indoor and outdoor surfaces.
