About the Company The Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft on Airbus Way opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015. It produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019, strengthening the U.S. aerospace industry as part of Airbus' global competitiveness strategy. Role Overview The Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for an A220 Flightline Quality Inspector in Mobile, Alabama, on 2nd shift. As a CAT2 member of the Flightline Quality team you are responsible for executing and verifying quality activities in the flightline phase, from handover from the Final Assembly Line, through the flight test phase, to final delivery to the customer. This includes demonstrating aircraft system integrity and conformity with the design specification by verifying functional test procedures, and declaring the aircraft ready for the production flight testing phase. Key Responsibilities Evaluate test results and document the tests performed. Perform special inspections imposed by restrictions and special instructions. Act as the flight test team quality representative in technical review meetings with Liaison, FAL/Flightline, the Design Office, Programmes and Quality teams. Perform ground checks, static system tests, APU runs, low and high power engine runs, low speed tests and compass swings in accordance with the FTP and in coordination with the flight test department. Support improvement measures and clarify problems with engineering, customers and suppliers. Take responsibility for closing Transport Canada snags. Perform and sign the application for the FAA Certificate of Airworthiness. Perform and approve service bulletins. Perform MRB approval in the non-conformance management system. Revise and approve flight permits. Ensure the aircraft conforms to its approved design data. Support customer deliveries on all aspects of aircraft conformity and release for flight. Licences & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Licence (required): valid FAA A&P or TCCA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) M2 licence. Preferred: FAA Inspection Authorization (IA). Preferred: valid A220 type rating. Experience Minimum 5 years of experience as a flightline quality inspector in aeronautics. Leadership experience preferred. Airline experience preferred. Requirements Eligible for employment in the US without sponsorship. Able to support a two-shift system and occasional weekends based on business needs. Vision adequate to read computer screens and aircraft gauges; hearing sufficient for conversation and for safety alerts and warning signals; able to speak in person and by electronic means to groups of varying size. Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment, work on fuselage jigs at a height of 15 feet and on hydraulic lifts at heights up to 40 feet. Able to occasionally lift and carry up to 55 lbs / 25 kg, push and pull items in office areas, sit for extended periods and stand for extended periods. Able to work in the wing or centre box in a confined space, entering the wing through a 9.8 inch by 17.7 inch oval opening, and to squat or kneel occasionally. Able to walk through office and production areas, around the flight line and airstrips and on uneven indoor and outdoor surfaces, and to travel domestically and overseas.
